Jason Sudeikis Hints Season 3 of Ted Lasso could be the Last

A lot of fans are excited for the return of Ted Lasso on Apple TV+, but despite the success of the show, we could be seeing the end of Ted’s story with AFC Richmond.

Talking to Deadline, Jason Sudeikis reveals:

“This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell. The fact that folks will want more and are curious beyond more than what they don’t even know yet—that being Season 3—it’s flattering.”

Take note, Sudeikis isn’t really saying the show is ending yet. Besides, there are a lot of shows that end up running longer than expected, and maybe Lasso could very much go that direction, based on what Apple wants out of the team. Sudeikis continues:

“Maybe by May 31, once all 12 episodes of the season [have been released], they’re like, ‘Man, you know what, we get it, we’re fine. We don’t need anymore, we got it.’ But until that time comes, I will appreciate the curiosity beyond what we’ve come up with so far.”

A lot of fans know what it’s like for series to overstay their welcomes, but very few shows manage to end exactly where they want to, like with Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, or HBO’s Watchmen. Maybe three seasons is the perfect end for a surprise hit like Lasso, but if the showrunners find a way to extend the story in a meaningful way, maybe we could see two more seasons of the show in the future. I just want to believe it can happen.

Ted Lasso 3 comes to Apple TV+ on March 15.
