Karen Gillan: Nebula and Gamora have Switched Roles in GOTG Vol. 3
Published 7 months ago
When we were first introduced to the dynamic of Nebula and Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy, it was always more of a sibling rivalry with Nebula leaning on the more sinister side of things. By the third movie though, it looks like the roles have been switched.
Talking to ScreenRant, Karen Gillan, who plays Nebula, has confirmed that Nebula has kind of become the big sister when it comes to the relationship between the daughters of Thanos. She says, “They have a really interesting dynamic now, even the way they greet each other is kind of hilarious. They’ve switched places in a way, like Nebula is now the more compassionate and evolved one, and Gamora is the crazy badass one who’s willing to kill anyone to do what she needs to do… but they’re still sisters. I think, like, no matter what they still care about each other deeply.”

If anything, the Gamora that we started out with back in 2014 has been dead since Infinity War, and the one that exists in Vol. 3 is a Gamora that never had her adventures with the Guardians. On the other hand, Nebula has been the very same one, and we’ve watched her grow from Thanos’ lackey to a full-fledged Avenger.
We don’t know what the future holds for the Guardians moving forward, but it has been said that Vol. 3 will be the last we see of this iteration of the team. While it’s sad to think that, I am excited to find out who else could be joining the roster in the future.
Catch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 when it comes to cinemas on May 5.
