Marvel Head Kevin Feige On James Gunn Co-Leading DC

Yesterday was kind of a big day for James Gunn; besides the release of the first trailer for his Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, he also has been appointed as the co-head of DC Studios starting this November.

With Gunn essentially being dubbed the ‘Kevin Feige of DC’, fans wonder what the actual Kevin Feige thinks of Gunn jumping ship to the rival franchise. Talking to Deadline, Feige explains:

“He’s got a lot of work to do for Marvel between now and May, which he’s well aware of, but after that, I’ll be first in line to see anything he does.”

For now, reactions have been mixed to Gunn taking over DC Studios. While there are some that are certainly excited for him, there are others who still think the reins should return to one Zack Snyder. Others have also joked about how Kevin Feige has unwittingly created his own arch nemesis like something out of a comic book:

We don’t know how Gunn plans to move forward with the DCEU, but I am hoping for more variety in projects as compared to Marvel. Though Marvel is successful, a lot of their work has started to feel very generic. Say what you will about DC, but they’ve managed to pump out some very creator-driven work like Joker and The Batman, while at the same time churning out kid-friendly content like Shazam!.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. In the meantime, check out Black Adam now screening in theaters.
