Matt Reeves Unveils First Look at Robert Pattinson's Batmobile in 'The Batman'

We’ve seen what Robert Pattinson would look like as the Dark Knight. A full stunt suit prototype of the bat-suit was also leaked a few weeks ago, throwing fans in a frenzy. Now, The Batman director Matt Reeves is adding fuel to the fire by dropping a series of photos showcasing the look of the new Batmobile. Check out the photos below:

With production underway, all eyes are on The Batman as it’s one of the most anticipated DC movies since the critically panned Justice League. Upon first glance, the new batmobile looks like a futuristic vehicle from Blade Runner 2049. But longtime comic book fans noticed a resemblance to the Batman’s batmobile used in the pages of its comics in the late ’60s to ’70s (specifically Francesco Francavilla’s 1972-inspired design of the vehicle). We’re not gonna lie, the new Batmobile absolutely looks stunning and perfectly fit for Pattinson’s take on the Dark Knight. Naysayers aside, it does exude what Reeves wants to portray in The Batman—a movie that wholly showcases the character’s impressive detective skills.

It’s also worth noting that this is the first time we’re seeing Pattinson in full bat-suit get-up.

With Reeves at the helm, it looks like the Planet of the Apes director is keen on showing less superheroics and more on how the Batman works in a semi-realistic setting through an incredibly distinct cast. Aside from Pattinson playing Bruce Wayne/Batman, a slew of amazing actors join him in the noir-ish Bat movie—Zoë Kravitz is set to play Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul Dano among the trio of villains as Edward Nashton/Ed Nygma, AKA The Riddler, and Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin. Meanwhile, the good guy team is comprised of Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Jeffrey Wright as well-known Batman ally Jim Gordon (he’s still a detective at this point). Other actors joining the movie are Peter Saarsgard playing District Attorney Gil Colson, John Turturro as mobster Carmine Falcone, Alex Ferns as GCPD Commissioner Pete Savage, Jayme Lawson as Bella Réal, and Con O’Neill in an undisclosed role.

The Batman began production in late January and is slated for release on June 25, 2021.
