Spider-Man Actor Tom Holland Announces Break from Social Media

Spider-Man actor Tom Holland has quite the history with social media, seeing as he had become the poster boy for spoiling his own movies, but it looks like he’ll be taking a step back.

As officially announced on his Instagram account, Holland will be taking a break from social media for his mental health. He says:

“I am taking a break from social media for my mental health, because I find Instagram and Twitter to be overstimulating, to be overwhelming. I get caught up and I spiral when I read things about me online. Ultimately it’s very detrimental to my mental state, so I decided to take a step back and delete the app.”

Holland also takes time to mention a mental health charity that he supports called Stem4 which has pioneering apps that would help young kids with their own mental health.

At 67 million followers, Holland is probably one of the most-followed celebrities online, but even if he is going to be taking a break, I have a feeling he’s going to be back by the time he has to promote the release of the fourth Spider-Man movie.

If anything, fans have noticed that Holland isn’t that active on social media already, so it shouldn’t make that big of a difference. I guess there are always the celebrity fan accounts that post about celebrities they follow more than the actual celebrities themselves.

With Holland finding success at such a young age, you can bet that he could use a break from all the noise of the internet. Let’s just hope he doesn’t fall into any familiar holes that other famous child actors get into.

No announcement has been made for Holland’s next Spider-Man appearance.
