The Justice League Gets Captured in Latest DC League of Super-Pets Trailer
Published 2 months ago
It seems like animated talking animals are making a comeback on the big screen. After the success of Dreamworks’ The Bad Guys, we have a new trailer for DC’s upcoming animated flick DC League of Super-Pets.
In “DC League of Super-Pets,” Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime in Metropolis side by side. When Superman and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto must convince a rag-tag shelter pack—Ace the hound, PB the potbellied pig, Merton the turtle and Chip the squirrel—to master their own newfound powers and help him rescue the Super Heroes.
While we know that the audience is mainly the kids, it looks like there are a lot of more mature jokes for the mature members of the audience. I’m sure kids won’t really get what Batman is saying when he’s brooding about ‘licensed toys’.
There have also been a lot of Marvel references in the film. The earlier trailers have Superman joking about being Iron Man, and now this one has Ace joking about getting a magic hammer. No doubt there could be more references in this movie—but hopefully it’s all in good fun. Marvel even had a DC reference when someone on Eternals called Ikaris ‘Superman.’
So far, the movie looks fun, and I’m digging the more unique designs of the Justice League. When are we gonna get the live-action Cyborg with an afro?
DC League of Super-Pets hits theaters on July 9.
