Toy Leaks Give First Look at Christian Bale in Thor: Love and Thunder

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to come out in July, but Marvel Studios is yet to give us our first trailer for the film. Fans have resorted to just watching out for leaks online, and a toy leak from Marvel Legends reveals the incoming characters in the film—including Christian Bale’s main villain Gorr the God Butcher.

Check this out:

Admittedly, the design has certain differences from the comic appearance. Besides the pale skin, they decided to give Gorr a human face, complete with a nose. They also ditched his alien pony tails and black hood to have Gorr wear a white tunic and carry a black sword.

Naturally, there are people who thought that this design was kind of dull, and have been comparing the design to Davy Jones from the Pirates of the Caribbean films which looks a lot more like Gorr. While I honestly wanted a more radical look for the character, I think Marvel Studios wanted audiences to recognize Christian Bale under the makeup, plus they probably didn’t want the character to be almost naked like he is in the comics.

With Gorr looking so plain, I think Bale will really have to pull off the character with his performance. Let’s hope that Taika Waititi has an interesting direction to take this god-slaying villain.

We don’t know when we’ll get our first official look at Love and Thunder, but fans are crossing their fingers that we get something this month. My guess is it would be an after-credits scene for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and the reason we haven’t gotten a trailer is because it reveals a lot of plot details for the Strange sequel.

For now, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Catch Thor: Love and Thunder when it hits theaters on July 8. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 6.

CONFIRMED: Walt and Jesse will be in the Final Season of Better Call Saul
