WB Allegedly Open to Keeping Ezra Miller’s Flash in the DCU

With Henry Cavill not making James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCEU reboot, fans are expecting a complete overhaul of Zack Snyder’s established Justice League. What’s odd though, is that word is going around that some versions of characters could be sticking around.

As per Variety, WB is said to be open to keeping Ezra Miller around as the Flash, seeing as he’s keeping good with his deal to ‘behave’ ever since he was told to get treatment for his mental health. The source writes:

“Given that Miller has stayed out of trouble since beginning mental health treatment in the summer, some executives are amenable to continuing with the actor as the world-saving speedster after “The Flash” bows on June 16.”

They also write that characters like Aquaman, Shazam, Blue Beetle, and Peacemaker could also hang around after the reset, but it’s curious as to how the continuity is going to work moving forward.

Some think that all will be made clear after the release of The Flash which is said to establish a multiverse for the DCU which will allow several versions of the same character to exist. Perhaps what will happen is that the focus will shift to a new DC timeline, while the other timelines will remain intact, and characters could be pulled in and out of stories depending on whatever multiverse science they throw at us.

Though I am up for Miller to keeping the role, I do feel pretty bad for Gal Gadot, who feels like she hasn’t really finished her run as Wonder Woman yet. With Patty Jenkins gone and WW3 unsure, I think it’s unfair to just abruptly end her run and not have someone else have a go at the character. You think Greta Gerwig would have had an idea?

For now, The Flash is expected to run into theaters this June 16.
