WeCrashed: Anne Hathaway and Jared Leto Play Disgraced WeWork Couple in New Trailer
Published 4 months ago
Apple TV had given us a TV series based on a podcast with The Shrink Next Door, now they’ve released a trailer for their new podcast-turned-series WeCrashed; based on the WOndery podcast WeCrashed: The Rise and Fall of WeWork.
Here’s the official description:
Inspired by actual events — and the love story at the center of it all. WeWork grew from a single coworking space into a global brand worth $47 billion in under a decade. Then, in less than a year, its valuation dropped $40 billion. What happened?
The series stars Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway as Adam and Rebekah Neumann, and aims to tell the story of the rise and fall of WeWork from a more personal lens. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, co-showrunner Lee Eisenberg had said this about WeCrashed:
“What separates [WeCrashed] from other things we’ve seen in this genre is that we watch the story through the prism of this couple… We see this cult of personality within the business story, and then come home with them at night.”
Eisenberg also says that the show is kind of a cautionary tale for anyone who is looking to get rich quick. He says, “We as a society get swept up in unicorns and this idea that you can get rich quick. Adam Neumann unironically said that he wanted to be a trillionaire. That’s just wild.”
The series looks interesting, and who better to play a person with a god complex than Jared Leto? Let’s hope he doesn’t send Anne Hathaway any weird gifts to “get into character.”
WeCrashed premieres on Apple TV+ on March 18.
