American Horror Story: Cult Trailer Welcomes Us To The Cult of Clowns On Election Night

The newest trailer for “Cult,” the next season of “American Horror Story,” has just dropped and it will leave you running for cover whenever you see clowns. The storyline is revealed in the video, one with a horrifying group of clowns and a seemingly-demented Donald Trump supporter. After teasing us with posters and videos of clowns and bees, FX has now released the trailer which also reveals a storyline that follows the unfortunate repercussions of the 2016 Presidential Elections.

Little information has been given about “American Horror Story: Cult.” What we do know is that it definitely centers around the events that happened after the elections and also features some version of Twisty the Clown from “Freak Show.” And now, thanks to the latest footage that we got from the trailer, the characters have all been revealed and the story unveiled for the upcoming season.

American Horror Story: Horrifying Clowns And Political Narrative

Based on the teaser trailer, there are a number of surprising elements and basic narratives for us to break down and obsess over until season 7 premieres. For one thing, Ally (Sarah Paulson) and Ivy’s (Alison Pill) is in a relationship as a married lesbian couple with a child (who actually kind of looks like Evan Peters?). This just solidifies series creator Ryan Murphy’s claim that “Cult” will focus on the marginalized demographics of modern American society.

What’s weird about this is that Murphy himself teased that Ally and Kai (Peters) will be in “a love story for the ages.” And so considering how Ally is married to Ivy, it can be hard to find out at which point their characters would intersect. Kai is a hell-bent Donald Trump supporter and seems to be enjoying terrorizing people with their fears, especially Ally’s fear of clowns. But given how “American Horror Story” is known for massive plot twists and surprising turns for every episode, there are actually a lot of ways how this “love story” between Ally and Kai could flesh out. (Stockholm syndrome, we’re looking at you.)

Another interesting aspect of the trailer is Billie Lourd’s introduction as Winter Anderson. From the looks of it, Winter might be a direct relative of Kai, since they have the same last name, and will be working as a babysitter to Ally and Ivy’s son. We all know that this isn’t going to end well (hell, all of them might even turn up dead like what Roanoke did), especially since Twisty the Clown makes his appearance—as a comic book and action figure.

“American Horror Story: Cult” premieres Tuesday, September 5 on FX.
