American Horror Story Season 7 Haunting New Title Finally Revealed

After a few teasers from “American Horror Story” Season 7 creator Ryan Murphy on social media, we can now finally put things to rest for the new season of FX’s horror anthology series. It’s been revealed during the San Diego Comic-Con that “Cult” will be the title for the next installment.

The announcement was made Thursday during a panel in one of SDCC’s major events. A slew of titles was given before the official reveal—among them being Hive, Colony, and Ann Coulter—which is actually “Cult.” FX also confirmed that the new “American Horror Story” season will premiere on Tuesday, September 5 at 10/9c. Along with this news, the network has also dropped a new website and a creepy-clown infested video revealing the title. The video was titled “Week One,” with several new videos dropping every week, leading to the premiere.

Murphy also answered a couple of Twitter questions during the event, saying that the show will have 11 episodes set in Michigan. The creator says that season 7 will be the  “heaviest season yet” for series mainstay Evan Peters, who will also be playing the role of Kai. However, little is known about the new season still. Sarah Paulson will be returning alongside Evans and will be joined by new comers, Billie Lourd, Colton Haynes, Lena Dunham, Billy Eichner, and Leslie Grossman. It’s also confirmed that Twisty the Clown will be making an appearance, though most probably not in his traditional, physical form.

Despite the lack of information though, fans still know more about the coming season at this point as compared to last year’s “Roanoke.” Murphy and the network kept everything in secret until the season premiere of “Roanoke.” FX previously renewed “American Horror Story” for 9 seasons. Every installment has focused mainly on different narratives, with some season connecting in one way or another to previous seasons.

“American Horror Story: Cult” premieres Tuesday, September 5 at 10/9c on FX.
