The CW's 'Arrow,' 'The Flash,' & 'Supergirl' Gets An Audiobook Series

The CW is set to bid goodbye to one of its Arrowverse shows. Stephen Amell’s Arrow—after spearheading the CW’s DC superhero universe—will be premiering its eighth and final season this fall. With one less character to root for, some fans of the original Arrowverse show that started it all are understandably upset. But it looks like Green Arrow’s story won’t be over just yet as The CW’s “big three” superheroes are getting their own audiobook series.

According to TheWrap, Arrowverse executive producer Greg Berlanti is developing new storylines for Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl alongside audiobook company Serial Box. The Flash will kick off the trilogy of audiobooks this fall, aptly titled The Flash: Rogues. Serial Box also produced the audiobook sequel to Netflix’s Orphan Black and boasts of a vast catalog of bingeable, bite-sized audiobook serials.

The Flash: Rogues will follow the titular hero turning to the dark side after Lex Luthor meddles with the past. “In a world turned upside down by dark forces, the Flash is now the fastest rogue alive. But does a hero still live inside him?” the audiobook’s summary reads.

“In this original story based on the popular The CW TV series, The Flash is now bad to the bone thanks to Lex Luthor’s meddling with the timeline. Now in league with the villainous versions of Arrow, White Canary and Supergirl, Shadow Flash wants to take down the city he once swore to protect. But even as our heroes go rogue, Barry Allen’s friends and loved ones still half-remember a time when Barry wasn’t all bad and must fight to correct the timeline and restore our heroes to the right side of justice.”

The first Arrowverse series on Serial Box will be written by “Suspicious Minds” author Gwenda Bond alongside her husband Christopher Rowe.

In a statement, Serial Box co-founder and CEO Molly Barton expressed the company’s excitement to work on the Arrowverse audiobooks. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to super-serve fans of these incredibly popular series with new stories,” Barton said. “We look forward to working closely with the Berlanti team to ensure that their creations make a seamless transition to our audio and reading formats.”
