Beastars Season 1 Episode 10 Recap – A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing

Shishi-Gumi
Legoshi is scouring the Black Market for Hal and the Shishi-Gumi. He asks the locals about the gang, but they scurry away and avoid him. But the two cats laugh and lead him to a dark alleyway. One of them pulls out a knife and mugs him, but his wallet is empty.
Gohin, the panda, appears with a bamboo crossbow and helps him. Legoshi tells him what he’s after. The panda explains the Shishi-Gumi: they’re a group of lions whose business is devouring herbivores — even he doesn’t want to deal with them.
Legoshi doesn’t care and asks where they are. He tells him about Hal. Gohin says she must have been devoured now. Legoshi admits he tried to eat her when they first met, but he loves her and wants to save her as retribution.
Gohin is disgusted. Legoshi moves on anyway.
Rain
The rain pours on the festival-goers. Rouis is in a bad mood. Juno asks him what happened between them and Legoshi. She admits she also was surprised to find out Legoshi loves Hal. She asks him where Legoshi is, and the deer says they may not see them again. He apologizes to Juno.
Somehow, Legoshi finds the gangster’s hideout. A guard finds him and threatens him, as there’s a rivalry between felines and canines. The gangster lets out a scent, Legoshi recognizes it as the rabbit. Rage brews inside the wolf as the gangster admits where Hal is.
Legoshi growls and overpowers the lion. He blurts out Hal is his prey. The lion sees him hesitate. He punches him, but Gohin shoots a bolt across the gangster’s back. Gohin encourages Legoshi to bite them if he wants to save her — it is a righteous cause.
Battle
Three other guards approach them, and a skirmish ensues. Legoshi manages to come inside the building, dodging and wrestling through his foes. Gohin doesn’t hesitate to shoot, so Legoshi finds time to advance. He fights lions in the hallways and the stairs, always assisted by Gohin.
Legoshi takes a punch for the panda and is thrown away. One of them has the smell of Hal, enraging him even further. She’s close by, and he knows she’s alive.
Legoshi fights back stronger. Gohin tells him to rush upstairs; he obliges.
Final Words
On the top floor, Hal is writing a letter, but she can’t decide how to start. She details what happened with plain normalcy.
She talks about her family and how she’s been warned to be careful since birth. Everyone treated her like a child — pitied and poor no matter how old she was. Confessions of love surprised her when she got older, and she found sharing a bed with men made her feel less of a poor rabbit. She just wanted someone to see her as Hal and not some fragile herbivore.
She found comfort in it, but it’s over now. Hal says goodbye and regrets she can’t tell the guy she loves her true feelings. Hal keeps writing when a big hand reaches out. Why is Legoshi here? She fondly remembers him.
Legoshi is weird, but he’s always been straightforward. He never pities her or anything. He always saw her as she is: Hal.
The old lion boss is subjugating her when she kicks out his cane. She says she’s not humiliated and dares him to eat her tough flesh. The lion grabs her and is about to devour her when Legoshi barges in.
Our Thoughts
A great action-packed episode with a touching end, but I don’t think this will be the end of our main couple’s troubles. I rate this a 3.5/5.
