Blood of Zeus Season 1 Episode 4 Recap - A Monster Is Born

Souls Passing

Alexia comes out the following day from her hiding place and finds the citizens of the polis all murdered. She finds Elias grieving by Electra’s corpse, and the elderly man weeps and tells her Heron has been taken captive.

Hermes appears before him and tells him that Electra’s soul will move easier to the next life due to her suffering. Hermes guides her soul into his horn and, with godly speed, takes her to the Underworld.

As Hermes lets Electra’s soul out, she sees the wonder and terror of the afterlife. Hermes sounds the horn to the river, and other souls appear before them. They are the wraiths who cannot afford to cross.

A small boat arrives with a single oarsman. Hermes gives him two coins, which affords Electra’s passage. Hermes asks her if there’s anyone she’d like to see before crossing over. She appears to Heron to encourage her son and let him remember who he is.

Heron wakes up in a cage with the Cerberus snarling at him, trapped with several other men. They tell him that Seraphim was still on the trail of Alexia. She managed to hide under a cave but was caught by the demon’s bident. But then it is revealed that she wasn’t Alexia but Hera wearing her disguise.

The goddess moves

The goddess introduces herself and asks him to kneel. With her magic, he obeys. Hera offers to give him revenge and tells him the truth. He’s the firstborn son of a mighty king.

She gives him a vision of the past. His father was murdered when he was an infant. His uncle throws him into the ocean to seize power, but one of the queen’s servants rescues him. The servant gives him to her sister to raise and care for. They were almost attacked by a bear in a den but were rescued by Hera through her prayers.

The boy grew up in the wilderness with the bears, but years later, they were hunted by Acrisius’ son.

The boy kills one of them with an arrow, and the bears fight the rest. The servant and her sister, however, were brutally murdered, and his sibling bears died as well. The mother bear arrives and kills all men except Acrisius’s son.

After the incident, the boy took refuge on the eastern shores of Melidoni, where he evolved into the monster everyone thought he was. He endured the pain of being an outcast and came back to murder Acrisius’ son in a dark alleyway.

The boy takes the sword that killed his mother and slams it into his head. He escapes with many wounds and throws himself off cliffs to get away from the guards. The ocean’s strong current led him to a dimly lit cave where the giant’s remains were. He sees the bident lodged into the creature’s body and wrestles it out to defend himself.

Giant’s flesh

The giant’s voice speaks to his head in sinister tones and drives him crazy. It calls him to eat its flesh, and he gorges. This act caused his body to transform, gaining horns and renewed strength.

Even when outnumbered, he fought the guards and gained the power to control the bident with his mind. Twelve guards fell that night while the other three begged for their lives, swearing their fealty to him.

Since that day, he kept hunting Acrisius and his sons. But Hera claims everything is Zeus’ fault for not saving Seraphim and how he saved Heron. He should have been a king.

Seraphim is suspicious of her reasons, but Hera tells him that Zeus tricked him into killing his mother.

Our Thoughts:

This show is part tragedy, soap opera, and war story. I’m digging how this series has been going so far. I rate this 4/5.
