Castlevania Season 4 Episode 10 Recap - It's Been a Strange Ride

Rebuilding

Sunrise shines over the castle as Hector fills two glasses of wine. It’s time for Lenore’s bedtime but she still wants a drink but they’ve run out of wine. It’s all over her. Hector tells her that things have merely changed. Lenore explains the vampire’s virtue, where things need to be stable. Something she had when her four sisters were still together. Hector argues that Carmilla wanted too much power and ruined her life. Lenore agrees that her search for power was what led to their downfall. It dawns on them that the search for power is what vampires live for.

Lenore complains of her caged status and doesn’t want to sit through all of it. She apologizes to Hector as she tells him of her plan to go out to the sun. She asks what Hector wants to do. He wants to write a book about his whole experience of sorrow and beauty. Lenore bids him goodbye as she looks into the sun and withers away.

The Danesti villagers occupy themselves with building settlements around Dracula’s castle. Some of them have moved into the Belmont hold, clearing it of rubble and restoring its vast store of knowledge.

Greta and Alucard argue about who gets the credit for their grand idea of staying and rebuilding here. Alucard is apprehensive since he’s not used to people, but the woman tells him to just go with it. She sees the humanity in him.

Plans

Alucard finds Sypha and approaches her cautiously. She wants to leave to rejoin the Speaker’s caravan now that she’s pregnant. Alucard awkwardly congratulates her and insists on her staying. He tells him of their plan to rebuild. There will be a community here with plenty of resources and knowledge gathered from both the castle and the hold. Greta could use Sypha’s knowledge as a Speaker and they could build a better life for all their children.

Sypha is impressed, and Alucard agrees. She feels even better after learning that the village will be named Belmont. After a short pause and a long look around her, she complains about their bad organization and starts with village planning.

Suddenly, a stray horse approaches the settlement with a hooded figure riding it.

The rider falls into Sypha’s arms, who appears to be Trevor. He explains that it was probably Saint Germain who opened the Infinite Corridor right after he stabbed Death. The Corridor transported him to a riverbank up north. Emotions engulf Syhpa as she searches for someone to heal him.

Reunion

Alucard kneels down to ask him the trick with the magic dagger. It was something Trevor found in Tragoviste’s hoard that was created to enact murder-suicide into a god. Trevor fought Death with the certainty of not surviving himself. He asks Alucard what everybody is doing around him. The half-vampire jokingly welcomes him to the village called Treffy. For the first time since they’ve met, the two are laughing and quite happy.

Sypha finally cries after a surge of relief and Greta comforts her. She happily declares that they have finally won.

Rain falls down on a quaint old town. Lisa and Vlad Tepes scramble to seek refuge in an inn. She invites him into bed, telling him he has to get used to the name Vlad. She remembers how they both died, and how he came to find her no matter the odds. But days ago they were suddenly transported to a field and had to resort to picking people’s pockets to survive. Vlad invites her to travel somewhere in the English country for their new chance at life.

Our Thoughts

I thoroughly expected a tragic ending, so seeing such a tight and satisfying resolution made this such a wonderful sendoff. 4.5/5
