Director David Fincher Returns To Netflix With New Series, 'Mindhunter'

The newest trailer for Netflix’s upcoming series, “Mindhunter” features a dark dive into the mind of a deranged serial killer. With “Mindhunter” being the newest Netflix original in its vast line of productions, it sets itself apart significantly. Director David Fincher serves as executive producer for the series (while also directing some episodes), along with Charlize Theron.

“Mindhunter” is created by Joe Penhall (The Road) and is based on the book “Mind Hunter: Inside FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit” by Mark Olshaker and John E. Douglas. It follows two FBI agents in the 70’s, Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany), as they go through one of the most critical events in American history when serial killers were popping rampantly. Ford and Tench are tasked to interview these killers in order to study their minds, including how they think and operate. This aims to use the knowledge taken from these interviews to potentially put a stop to these crimes.

Netflix’s ‘Mindhunter’: A Harrowing Glimpse of A Serial Killer’s Mind

In line with the upcoming release of “Mindhunter” this October, a new trailer has been released. The trailer features unsettling and disturbing new footage, much like that of Fincher’s previous projects. It also gives out new insight as to how the characters will fare throughout the show and the conflicts that will be included in the show. Check it out below:

The serial killer themes is a well-explored territory for Fincher. In the past, the director has dealt with heavy subjects on these killings in a number of his films. It’s just right for “Mindhunter” to have the same feel to that of Fincher’s previous efforts.

Of course, “Mindhunter” isn’t the first Netflix project that Fincher has worked on for the streaming service. The director has also worked on the streaming service’s first and most critically-acclaimed drama, “House of Cards.” He also served as producer and directed some of the episodes as well. Now that a new trailer is here for “Mindhunter,” only time will tell how this new series gets the same amount of success as its other original series predecessors.

“Mindhunter” premieres on Netflix, October 13th.
