Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 1 Episode 10 Recap - Together Forever

Direct Hit

Tanjiro weaves through the arrows with a whirlpool attack. Finally, his strike lands, severing off the arrow demon’s head. His gamble pays off as the arrows from the enemy make his attack even stronger.

The severed demon head curses him from the ground, and he hasn’t won yet. The demon uses multiple arrows to hurl Tanjiro to a wall, and he manages to escape by slashing in the opposing direction.

Still, the enemy is relentless. He attacks, again and again, draining Tanjiro’s energy. His hands feel like they’re breaking.

Back on the ground, the demon’s head slowly fades away. The demon drops Tanjiro from a high place during his last moment, breaking his legs. He’s too tired to even hold his sword, yet he bites the blade and crawls towards the others.

Six temari balls are bouncing in tandem now, attacking Yushiro from every direction. He manages to dodge a few, but Nezuko catches one that almost hits him.

Stronger

Nezuko’s kicks are now strong enough to throw the balls back at its owner. They engage in a back and forth kickball fight. Lady Tamayo used a healing serum on her–the strength she’s now showing is all on her own.

Still, she is no match for the enemy. Tamayo will have to intervene. She goes in front of them and asks the demon if she knows Muzan’s true intentions. She tells her master that he’s a coward. Muzan pits demons against each other so that he doesn’t have any opposition.

The temari demon is annoyed beyond normal. Lady Tamayo uses her perfume-like spell to put a curse on her – a curse that causes brain function to decrease and makes the victim unable to lie.

The temari demon runs in panic; her body convulses, and three gigantic limbs spout from her mouth and torso. The arms then proceed to crush her from the inside.

Muzan’s cells destroyed its host – a part of his vile plan to be the strongest. Tamayo realizes that the two are not real Twelve Moons Demon as they don’t have numbers engraved in their eyeballs. She proceeds to take blood samples from them and checks on a sleeping Nezuko.

Dying wish

The demon’s body calls out for the temari ball, and Tanjiro takes it to her dying body. He realizes she’s just like a child. The sun appears from the sky, and the body melts away. Tanjiro laments yet another death, and it was all Muzan’s doing. He questions if it’s all worth it.

He realizes Muzan is the actual demon for what he’s forced others to do. Tanjiro comes into the basement where Tamayo and Yushiro are working. He finds Nezuko all strong and active. She hugs Tanjiro before doing the same to Tamayo. She pats Yushiro’s head as well, causing him to fluster.

Tamayo asks if she’s doing fine. Tanjiro tells him that it’s normal for family, and Nezuko sees them as humans and treats them as such. Tanjiro is thankful that she still has consciousness. The lady cries, which causes him to panic.

Family

At that moment, Yushiro remembers the time that Tamayo saved him. He was on his deathbed as she detailed the cost of turning him into a demon.

Tamayo decides to find another place to hide and evade Muzan. She offers to keep Nezuko with her to take care of her. Tanjiro sees sense in this, but his sister holds his hand, and he understands. He refuses her, saying they’ll never part ways with Nezuko again. She bids them farewell.

Tanjiro heads southeast for the next mission. On the road, he finds the yellow-haired demon slayer from the selection.

Our Thoughts

This was like the previous episode but turned up a notch. The fight scenes are treated with care, and the lore and worldbuilding are as solid as any other fantasy franchise. I rate this 4.5/5
