DOTA: Dragon's Blood Season 1 Episode 6 Recap - The Knight, Death and the Devil

Questions in the Tower

Davion pleads for the sage’s help. Marci and Mirana’s wounds are fatal. The sage is cautious, but he is obliged to give them safe refuge after seeing the Shopkeeper’s gem.

When Davion wakes, he is summoned by the sage for negotiation. He asks him about Terrorblade and his connection with the dragon.

Meanwhile, on the elf enclaves, Selemene’s preachers are indoctrinating their captives. Luna faces trouble—other rebels are still fighting them in the woods. She finds an informant from the Coedwei elves, who leads them deep into the forest. Hooded elves ambush them. Luna retreats for a while. Frustrated, she leads the army to go back in. They find themselves shocked seeing their men murdered and hung up on the treetops; the informant included with the inscription: “traitor.”

The sage reveals to Davion the Eldwyrms are the souls of the primordial elements of their world. Terrorblade wants to take hold of each soul to remake the world in his image. This also means the demon will inevitably go for Davion. The sage puts a spell on his amulet to prevent the transformation, but it is only a temporary fix. Someday, Slyrak will go mad and will be set loose on the world, killing Davion’s body in the process.

Fymryn prays to Mene and asks her what to do. Deep inside, she wants to kill Mirana, but she is conflicted.

Mirana and Marci are awake, fully healed. She thanks the sage for saving them. The sage questions her faith in the Selemene as he explains what happened in the past. Selemene fears that the elven legion has come to murder her, justifying the horrors she’s inflicting.

Mirana recognizes the sage as the Invoker: the Devil of the Moon. The sage refutes; he gives them the lotuses back to prove it. He asks them to return the lotuses to Selemene and convince her to withdraw from the enclaves.

Mirana resists, but they are given more time to think. She and Davion share a drink in one of the tower’s balconies. Mirana talks about how Selemene helped her from the darkness, conflicted with the violence the goddess is inflicting. Davion cheers up Mirana in her time of doubt, admitting his own fears. They share a kiss under the moonlight.

Fymryn is about to attack them when the sage intervenes. She challenges his decision to return the lotuses, but he insists she should trust him.

The General’s Wrath

Luna’s faith is challenged by the atrocities she’s faced. The goddess assures her she is the right person for the job, strengthening her resolve. With Luna’s belief and numbers renewed, she and her army return to fight back against the traitors. They go on a rampage through the rebel base, murdering everyone they find.

Luna goes back to the goddess, but Selemene is unsatisfied by the lack of worship from the Coedwig. They only fear Luna. Selemene scolds her general, but she knows she will make up for it.

Sage’s Quest

The Invoker seals the lotuses in a box and bargains with Mirana to return them to Coedwig. It will only open if the Dark Moon Order retreats the enclaves. Davion decides to go with them; the Invoker gives him armor. He also tasks Fymryn, a Coedwen, to guide them.

Meanwhile, back in the tower, the Invoker offers the Shopkeeper’s gem to Terrorblade.

Our Thoughts

The lore and motivation for our characters seem to be all over the place in this episode. I, for one, am craving Mirana’s backstory. So far, there are only hints, but I feel like there should be more details by now. The same goes for the Invoker and his relationship with Selemene. It would have been nice to see these characters a little more fleshed out. I would rate this episode a 2.5/5.
