Emily in Paris Season 1 Episode 7 Recap – French Ending

Emily spots Sylvie shopping for some items for her upcoming vacation, the specifics of which she doesn’t want to divulge. Emily agrees to keep the office operating smoothly while she is away. She also offered to assist with the Fourtier flagship party the following week. Emily persuades Sylvie despite her reluctance to the idea. Sylvie agrees and assigns her the responsibility of babysitting Brooklyn Clark, the hostess. At the office, Julien tells Emily that Sylvie is going to St. Barts with Antoine.

Emily goes to Brooklyn’s hotel to discuss the agenda for the Fourtier party. Brooklyn is worried she doesn’t have anything to wear, so Emily tells her she has access to Pierre Cadault. Brooklyn gives Emily her contact number and sends her away.

Later that night, Emily, Mindy, and Camille are having dinner at the restaurant where Gabriel works. Gabriel sits with them for a while. Emily invites them all to the Fourtier launch. Due to prior commitments, Mindy and Camille decline, leaving just Gabriel. He says he’ll come. Camille reveals that the restaurant’s owner has finally agreed to sell it to Gabriel. Gabriel claims he can’t afford it, but Camille says her parents are eager to help him out. Gabriel is not pleased with this, so excuses himself to the kitchen.

The next day, while helping Brooklyn pick a dress at Pierre’s boutique, Emily meets Mathieu Cadault, Pierre’s nephew and Head of Business Affairs. Savoir is on a one-month trial to develop a social media presence for Pierre, Mathieu informs Emily.

Julien asks Emily to sign an insurance waiver for the 2 million euro Fourtier watch Brooklyn is wearing on the night of the party. They then see Antoine and his wife, Catherine, arriving. Emily tells Sylvie about it; she thinks it will bother her, but Sylvie simply ignores her. Gabriel arrives. Brooklyn hits on him.

Sylvie arrives with Catherine as Antoine speaks with Emily and Gabriel. Sylvie remembers Gabriel from the previous night. Antoine raves about his food to Catherine. Catherine then proposes they eat there when they return from their trip to St. Barts. This surprises both Antoine and Sylvie because the trip is for the two of them. Antoine’s assistant accidentally copied Catherine in an email with the hotel booking. Catherine thought it was Antoine’s surprise for her.

Emily sees Brooklyn leave as she follows Sylvie outside, making her worry — she is responsible for her and the expensive watch she is wearing. Gabriel helps her follow Brooklyn. The two wind up in a club where they party and kiss. Brooklyn gets away from them once more. Emily notices she has missed several calls from Michel, the Fourtier representative when she checks her phone. Michel is looking for the watch; they were supposed to have the watch back after the party was over, but it was over two hours ago. She assures him everything is in order.

Emily takes a motorcycle ride with Gabriel to get to Brooklyn’s hotel as soon as possible. When they get to the hotel, they cannot get information on Brooklyn’s room from the receptionist. They decide to head to the hotel bar in the hopes of finding Brooklyn, but she isn’t there. They pause for a while. Gabriel tells Emily he doesn’t want to borrow money from Camille’s parents because it would mean they own him; he doesn’t want that. Sylvie comes, and Emily leaves with her to find Brooklyn before their conversation gets any further.

Sylvie persuades the receptionist to lead them to Brooklyn’s suite. Brooklyn is on the bed with a man, and they find the watch. Emily notices Pierre’s dress on the floor and snaps a photo. Emily tells Sylvie on the elevator trip down that she’s amazing, and she feels she deserves more than to be Antoine’s mistress. Sylvie brushes her off and mocks Emily for believing in happy endings.

When they step outside the hotel, they find Gabriel waiting for them. Emily refuses his offer of a ride home, saying they should stop seeing each other; she does not want to share Gabriel with another woman.

The next day, Julien tells Emily her post of the dress with the caption “About last night” has gained almost 200k likes. Mathieu sends Emily a direct message saying he believes she made Pierre Cadault sexy again.

Our Thoughts

In this episode, we’re pleased to know Emily is really good at what she does, seeing that she found a way to promote Pierre Cadault while she’s on another project. We are a bit surprised that money is an issue between Camille and Gabriel — they seem perfect for each other. We also learn how serious Gabriel is about his dreams, and we admire him for that. But we don’t like that he is so flirty with Emily when he knows it will complicate their relationship with Camille, a seemingly genuine person. We feel sad for Sylvie; she was really excited about her trip. But a very tiny part of us thinks she deserves it because she’s been so mean to Emily. Sorry, not sorry.
