Emily in Paris Season 2 Episode 10 Recap - French Revolution

Over breakfast, Madeline tells Emily there might be some personnel changes in the office. They are not making enough money because of playing favorites.

Emily talks about Laboratoire’s successful event and tells the team they are already considering another event in the south. Madeline asks how soon another event can be done and suggests they do it coinciding with the Cannes Festival. Sylvie tells Madeline building a luxury experience takes time — it’s not a hotdog stand.

Julien announces that Grégory is launching his own shapewear line — a disaster. He shows them a video of Grégory throwing a fit after his marketing company fires him. They all laugh and make fun of Grégory while Madeline sees an opportunity. Emily tells her they cannot take him on as a client: he and Pierre have been in a feud for years. Sylvie seconds this by saying there is a conflict of interest. Madeline does not follow and tells them they cannot just let go of an opportunity like it just because someone’s feelings might get hurt. Sylvie tells her it will offend one of their most important clients, and it is not how they run their company.

Madeline tells her their company is a subsidiary of an American conglomerate that would want to be in business with two major designers because that’s how they run their company. Sylvie gives up and tells Madeline she’s right. She asks Emily to set a meeting with Grégory and just let him and Pierre bury the hatchet in the show.

After the meeting, Sylvie calls Laurent and tells him she needs to see him soon.

Benoît busks at the park; Mindy drops some coins. Benoît stops playing when he sees Mindy. She tells him it‘s a good song, but Benoît tells her she wasn’t supposed to hear it. Mindy apologizes for everything, but he refuses to listen. He tells her she’s a wonderful singer, and the band does well with her in it, and when it comes to their relationship, they should just stick to what works.

Étienne comes and tells Mindy he’s happy she’s back. He tells her they booked a gig in a club where the owner’s daughter is obsessed with Chinese Popstar, so he promised her a photo before the event. Benoît tells them they shouldn’t do it if Mindy isn’t comfortable, but Mindy says they should because they can use the money. Benoît walks out and tells them they should start singing.

At Savoir, Emily tries desperately to get in touch with Grégory, but to no avail. Julien comes to her rescue and tells her he knows where to find Grégory — a nightclub. Emily talks to him and convinces him to hire them.

After spending the night together at Sylvie’s house, Erik begs Sylvie to stay for breakfast. Sylvie obliges and tells him to take a shower before she changes her mind. The doorbell rings; Erik gets the door half-naked. It is Laurent. Erik asks him who he is; he tells him he’s Sylvie’s husband. Sylvie walks in on them. Erik asks her what’s going on.

She tells Erik that Laurent is indeed her husband on a technicality. They’ve been apart for years, and he’s only there for business.

At the apartment, Mindy tries to find an outfit for their gig. She almost gives up if not for Emily’s positive reinforcements.

At Savoir, Emily gives Madeline the contract Grégory signed. Julien tells her he agreed to invite Pierre to the show. Sylvie walks in. Madeline points out it is already 11:30. She boasts that while Sylvie’s brunching, Emily just booked them another client. Sylvie then tells her she was just with Pierre, and he agreed to end the feud with Grégory.

Luc presents a sketch of a cake to Emily and tells her it’s for Grégory’s approval. Luc tells her it’s too bad there won’t be real cakes at the event. Emily tells him it’s not a bad idea, but Luc tells her they won’t find someone to bake them cakes at the last minute.

At the supper club, Mindy and her band sing. Emily convinces Gabriel to bake 80 tiny cakes for Grégory’s event at very short notice. Emily hugs him and tells him he’s a lifesaver just as Alfie walks in. Emily excuses herself to make a call and leaves the two men alone.

Alfie takes the opportunity to ask Gabriel if something is going on between Emily and him. Gabriel finds the question funny and tells him nothing is going on with them; they are just friends. Emily comes back. They watch as Mindy’s band performs.

Mindy and the band start playing. At first, it feels like no one is paying attention. But as the song progresses, people seem to enjoy it. A couple starts dancing, and even Benoît eases up. By the end of the song, people applaud. Mindy and Benoît kiss.

Laurent and Sylvie sign some papers in a restaurant and talk about a bank transfer. Laurent congratulates Sylvie on her new adventure. She tells him Laurent G is all his now. She thanks him for coming quickly, and he tells her he’s proud of her.

In Grégory’s show, he gives the opening remarks. He presents and welcomes Pierre, whom he calls a very dear friend and mentor. Pierre makes a grand entrance and briefly takes the spotlight from Grégory. After he’s seated, the show begins.

After the show, the crowd applause and honors Grégory. Sylvie, Luc, and Julien walk out of the venue. Grégory thanks Emily for the work she’s done. Madeline introduces herself to Grégory. He says he has to leave to get to the press line. Pierre approaches them. Emily tells him he made an incredible entrance.

Madeline also introduces herself to Pierre. He congratulates them and tells them what happened is grander than what they have done for him or ever will do for him and announces he’s leaving Savoir. He says Cadault is a French fashion house and needs French sensibility to work, and he thinks it is no longer Savoir. Madeline tries to invite him to dinner so they can fix things, but Pierre tells her they can never understand each other.

Madeline confronts Sylvie and tells her it is her fault Pierre left Savoir. Sylvie tells Madeline what she did was to convince him to come to the event, and if she wants to blame someone, she should blame herself. Madeline tells her she’s had enough of her insubordination and disrespectful tone, so she will be scheduling her for a 360 review in Chicago.

Sylvie tells her it is no longer necessary — she is resigning. Madeline bursts out in laughter and tells her she is making her job easier by leaving. She thinks the office will be operating smoother without her. Sylvie then presents her with paperwork and tells her the office is coming with her. Luc and Julien tell her all of them are quitting.

Emily panics and tries to go after Sylvie, Luc and Julien. She asks them why they’re doing what they’re doing. Sylvie tells her it’s not personal.

Emily rants to Alfie about what happened. She says they abandoned her without saying a word. Alfie tells her the project that brought him there ended, and he was supposed to be in London the previous week already, but he is staying for Emily. He says he thinks they can do long-distance, and Emily can plan all she wants — alternating weekends and color-coded schedules. Emily tells him it would be good to plan something in her life at that moment, and they kiss.

The next morning, Emily walks in at an empty Savoir office. Madeline tells her the French office did them a favor by quitting because they do not need to pay them severance, and they can hire a whole new staff. Emily asks if they don’t need to replace the experience they lost. Madeline tells her they have a stacked client roster, and she doesn’t need willful execs with ten years of bad habits they need to unlearn. She says she needs little mounds of clay she can mold into whatever she wants them to be. Emily realizes Madeline’s talking about her. Madeline tells her she’s her little terminator. She asks Emily to write what she’s saying down and make her a cup of tea.

Emily gets a text from Sylvie asking if she’s free for lunch. She comes to lunch and sees Julien and Luc are with Sylvie. Sylvie tells her that her husband bought her shares of his club, and she’s using the money to start a new firm. She further reveals she has spoken to their former clients, who all agreed to come with her. She says Pierre agreed to come, and Grégory is onboard only if Emily will be part of the firm. Luc tells Emily they want her.

Emily asks them why it took so long before they told her. Sylvie says they did it so Emily won’t have the chance to fix it because it’s not impossible for her to do so, knowing she’s very good at her job. Sylvie says she’d have to stay in Paris for longer than she expected if she gets onboard. She tells Emily to take her time and think about the proposal.

Emily blushes and tells them she cannot believe they want her on their team; she didn’t think they like her at all. Sylvie reminded her it’s not personal — it’s business.

Emily talks to Mindy about the decision she has to make and tells her she has always been so decisive, but ever since she came to Paris, her life has become chaotic, dramatic, and complicated. But she tells her it has also never been that beautiful. Emily also tells Mindy that she never fell in love with her best friend’s boyfriend in Chicago. Mindy catches the word love and asks Emily if she still loves Gabriel. Emily tells her he’s not an option because she made a promise. Mindy refuses to let her make a decision based on a manipulative pact she had with Camille. Emily then tells her she has Alfie, and with him, everything is so easy, making her wonder why she is even thinking about someone else. Mindy tells her until she tells him the truth about how she feels, then she’s always going to wonder.

Emily knocks at Gabriel’s door and tells him she thinks she’s staying in Paris for longer than a year, indefinitely, maybe. She says she thought Paris was just a detour for her, but she thinks it is where she should really be because her friends, her career, and Gabriel is there. Gabriel tries to tell her something, but she stops him from talking and tells him she should say what she has to say before losing the nerve. She begins to tell him Alfie is not the reason why she said she cannot be with him. But before she can continue, she hears Camille’s voice coming from inside his apartment. She is wearing a headset, so she did not hear what Emily said to Gabriel. She comes and hugs Emily and tells her they have been meaning to tell her they’re back together, but it just happened. She announces Gabriel asked her to move in with him.

Surprised by this, Emily just tells them it’s great they’re back together; she’ll see them around. Emily cries as she walks absent-mindedly until she reaches a spot on a bridge to contemplate what just happened. She calls Sylvie and tells her she has made her decision.

Our Thoughts

Oh, they really know how to get us every single time! That cliffhanger is definitely something that has left us thinking. Will Emily choose to stay for her career? Or will she go back to Chicago now that Gabriel and Camille are back together? Will she continue to be in a relationship with Alfie? Oh, that poor guy!

We are happy that Sylvie finally sees Emily’s value, as proven by her desire to get her to work with her in her new firm. We hope Emily takes it because while it seems like Madeline is nice and professional, she doesn’t seem to see Emily as well as Sylvie sees her. After all that drama in Paris, we mean that Emily deserves to have a good career, at least.
