Next Week's 'Fear the Walking Dead' Episode To Have a Comedic Tone

Prepare to have a different serving of Fear the Walking Dead in next week’s episode. We’ve all been used to watching the zombie apocalypse survivors battling it out amongst themselves and the Walkers/Infected. But this one will have a slightly different tone than the others. Titled, “The Code,” episode 11 of the show’s fourth season will feature “a lot of comedy,” according to one of its showrunners.

With “Close Your Eyes” being a generally darker episode compared to the other chapters of season 4, the show is taking its viewers to a genre that hasn’t been explored that much in the hit zombie franchise. Of course, we’ve seen a few comedic elements here and there, but it wasn’t entirely a part of the overall theme for the episode.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, co-showrunner Ian Goldberg teased something new for fans of Morgan in Fear the Walking Dead. “We’re going to meet some new faces next week who are going to lend a very different flavor to the show. There’s going to be a lot of comedy,” Goldberg said. “Episode 410 was a very dark episode, and with the episode 411, it’s going to be much lighter in tone, and a lot of that will come from some new cast additions that we’re excited for people to check out.”

The new characters were teased in this year’s SDCC last July, and they will be a ragtag group of southerners made up of Aaron Stanford, Stephen Henderson, Tonya Perkins, Mo Collins, and Daryll “Chill” Mitchell. The promo teaser hints at Morgan coming across their crew as he embarks on another journey looking for John (Garrett Dillahunt), June (Jenna Elfman), Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey), Strand (Colman Domingo), and Luciana (Danay Garcia) after being separated when the storm hit.

The current slate of Fear the Walking Dead main characters are divided, with each pair stuck in a particular predicament. This week, we saw Alicia and Charlie (Alexa Nisenson) come to terms with their issues. “The Code,” on the other hand, will be a solo Morgan episode that will also introduce the new cast additions.

Fear the Walking Dead continues next Sunday, August 26th at 9/8c on AMC.
