Good Morning Call Season 1 Episode 6 Recap - Faking Up Is Hard to Do

While Nao is doing the dishes, Uehara approaches her. Nao expects Uehara to confess to her, but instead, he tells Nao that he is getting tired of her antics because trouble seems to follow her everywhere. But Uehara also admits that he thinks being with Nao is fun so he doesn’t mind spending time with her until they both find a new place to live in. Nao teases Uehara if he finally wants to be in a real relationship with her, but Uehara just shuts her up.

The ramen shop gets featured in a magazine and is now popular among couples. Nao observes the long line of people waiting outside the shop. Issei hands Nao a coupon and tells her to come to the shop for her first date. He adds that if Nao doesn’t have anyone to go with then Issei can just eat with Nao.

Nao tells her friends that she plans to make packed lunch for that semester. Marina tells her to make one for Uehara as well and to ask him to eat with her. Nao asks Uehara to eat lunch with her and Uehara says yes only because he is after the food Nao is going to cook.

Marina advises Nao that she has to act like they are so in love. She tells her that the reason celebrities fall in love with each other is that they act like real couples in shows. Nao follows her friends’ advice and tries to act real cute with Uehara. Daichi sees the two of them eating lunch together and gets sad.

After school, Nao spots Uehara walking and she follows him. She asks him if he wants to drink some coffee. Yuri calls them and says she has souvenirs from Hawaii. To avoid Yuri, Uehara says goodbye and heads over to a friend’s house.

At their house, Nao tells Yuri that she envies her because she is pretty and confident. She tells her that she doesn’t wonder why Uehara loves her. Yuri tells Nao that she is the one who envies her. She tells Nao that she used to be like Nao before she got married.

Daichi goes over to Nao’s room and hands her tickets to the aquarium. He tells her they can go on Sunday. Nao looks happy and thanks Daichi. While they are talking, Uehara walks to Nao and scolds her. He tells Nao that he came over just to pick the packed lunch because the lunch break will be over soon. Daichi doesn’t like the way Uehara talks to Nao and calls him out. Uehara walks away from him, as Nao apologizes to Daichi for Uehara’s attitude.

They eat lunch together, and Uehara asks Nao if she is dating Daichi. Nao says no, so Uehara asks her how she could go out with someone she doesn’t like. Nao apologizes to Uehara that they have to live together and that he has to eat lunch with her. She mocks him and says he would have enjoyed it if she was Yuri. Uehara stops eating his lunch and leaves Nao alone on the rooftop. Nao quickly realizes her mistake but then it’s too late for her to stop Uehara. That night, Uehara goes straight to his room.

The next day at school, Nao looks so tired. Mitsuishi asks her where her lunch is and Nao says she overslept. Later she sees Uehara carrying the lunch he bought for himself. He is followed by the leaders of the three groups. Nao hears them say that she and Uehara must have broken up already because Uehara is not the type to stay with a plain person like Nao.

On Sunday, Daichi and Nao meet at the station. They go to the aquarium together. Nao realizes that she must have left her phone at home so Daichi volunteers to take the photos for both of them. Nao looks so happy looking at the animals, and Daichi keeps on staring at her.

Meanwhile, Uehara is at home playing video games. He hears a phone ringing so he looks inside the house to know where it’s coming from. He finds Nao’s phone in the bathroom. He looks at who is calling and sees that it’s Nao’s mom. He ignores the call and goes back to playing his game.

At the aquarium, Nao asks Daichi to take a photo of her. Two women who are offering to take photos as souvenirs approach them. Daichi says he will buy a souvenir and asks them two take a photo of him and Nao. Daichi sends the photo to Nao, and Uehara sees it at home.

Daichi finally tells Nao what he thinks of Uehara and Nao living together. He admits he’s against it. He tells Nao that if she likes him, then why do they have to pretend they are dating. He asks Nao why she lets him treat her that way. Nao admits that as long as she can be with Uehara, she’s okay with anything. Feeling quite relieved that he might still have a chance with Nao, Daichi admits that he has feelings for her.

After confessing to Nao, Daichi asks for the photo souvenir as a remembrance of their first date. He asks Nao if she can go home alone, then he turns around and walks away. Uehara goes to the Aquarium to bring Nao her phone. He finds her alone and tells her it might be an emergency. Nao calls her mom and finds out she just needed help with something.

The two of them walk home together and see the beautiful Tokyo Tower. While bickering, Uehara figures out that Nao is hungry. He asks if Nao wants to eat, but is worried because they haven’t gotten their salary yet. Nao remembers the coupon Issei gave her. She shows Uehara the coupon and the two then eat at the ramen shop.

Rumors spread around school that Nao and Uehara have broken up, or that Nao is two-timing Uehara with Daichi. The leaders of the three groups go to Nao’s room to clear things up. While they are taking to Nao, Uehara walks inside the room and asks Nao to walk home together. He tells her that he has gotten over his feelings for Yuri and doesn’t want to talk about it anymore.

While they eat dinner together, Nao looks so happy. Someone rings the bell and when Nao opens the door, she finds Yuri standing outside, carrying a bag and completely soaked from the rain. Yuri tells them that she’s getting a divorce.

Our Thoughts:

It looks like everyone knew that Daichi has feelings for Nao except for Nao herself. We are happy that Daichi finally had the courage to confess to Nao, but we wished that Daichi didn’t leave Nao after his confession. After he left, Uehara got the chance to eat with Nao.  The more they spend time together, the bigger possibility that Uehara will develop some feelings for Nao.

Until now, we haven’t seen Uehara’s brother. We also haven’t seen the other boy from the top three boys in school. We would also like to see how Nao’s parents would react if they find out that Nao is living with a schoolmate. Daichi is the only one with a realistic reaction, in our opinion. The others just got surprised when they find out they live together. We think that Daichi’s reaction was not exaggerated, but totally understandable.

Since Daichi and Nao have been friends for years, he should have told her he likes her years ago. Now that Uehara is in the picture, getting Nao to like him back will be harder. Nao said so herself that as long as she is with Uehara it is okay if he is mean to her. She will stay because there is a chance his feelings might change. Daichi took this to the heart and believes Nao will like him too.  It would be nice if there is another girl aside from Yuri and Nao or Nanako. It would be nice if there is one more that Uehara can like.
