Gotham Season 4 Inches Closer To Revealing Batman's Vigilante Beginning

The fourth season of “Gotham” is just around the corner, and David Mazouz, who plays Bruce Wayne in the series, recently revealed that Batman is definitely coming to the series. The pre-Batman show has been about creating the world and streets where the Dark Knight would soon inhabit.

After a key scene during “Gotham’s” season 3 finale, Bruce was shown to slowly embrace vigilantism. He hasn’t worn the cape and cowl yet, but he wasn’t far from it either. Now it looks like the season 4 will dive into more of how he becomes Batman as Bruce develops a separate identity for his night adventures.

Batman Is Coming To Gotham

In an interview with Comicbook.com, Mazouz discussed the ideas that Bruce needs to understand before getting into the vigilante life. “Bruce really is taking on this vigilante persona and all the things that go along with that. Whether it be creating another persona, a public persona, that’s also definitely going to be a major part of Bruce’s journey this year. His relationship as this other person. Batman is coming. Absolutely,” Mazouz said.

The show’s writers have previously teased that “Gotham” would end with Bruce finally becoming Batman. However, the show doesn’t seem to be ending just yet. Bruce will definitely be pushed even further towards his journey as the Caped Crusader. Mazouz also mentioned that he was worried about the story at first, thinking that the Batman story would stagnate should the writers hold back the vigilante theme of the show.

“Another thing I was worried about was we were going to get to Season 4 and the writers were going to go, ‘You know, I think we took it a little too far too fast. Let’s backtrack.’ And the exact opposite happened. The trajectory is just continuing in that direction. I would say, I would know it’s accelerating in that direction. It’s not going to stop,” Mazouz said.

Based on the actor’s comments, the show’s fourth season might just be more heavy-laden with Batman themes than initially thought. While a fifth season awaiting confirmation, it’s highly likely that the showrunners have initially discussed the idea of Batman finally making his appearance in the show. And since the Joker will now be revealed before the show’s conclusion, it might be one of the most iconic showdowns that Batman fans should be on the lookout for.

“Gotham” Season 4 premieres Thursday, September 18 at 8/7c on FOX.
