Marvel’s Hawkeye is steadily rounding out its key characters.

In addition to series leads Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld, Florence Pugh, Vera Farmiga, Tony Dalton, Fra Fee, Zahn McClarnon, and Alaqua Cox are all set to appear in the superhero stand-alone series.

As per usual, Marvel is keeping details under tight wraps and they have only hinted at the general story of Clint Barton passing on the Hawkeye mantle to Kate Bishop who becomes the first female to take on the Hawkeye name and who is also a member of the group Young Avengers.

Pugh will reprise her role as Black Widow’s sister, the spy and assassin Yelena Belova. Her character is first set to appear in the Black Widow solo movie opposite Scarlett Johansson which has been pushed back for a release to May 2021. Most recently, she was nominated for an Oscar for her role as Amy March in the latest adaptation of Little Women. She also starred in critically acclaimed films like Midsommar, Fighting with My Family, and The Little Drummer Girl.

Farmiga will play Eleanor Bishop, Kate’s mother. In recent years, she has been a staple in the horror genre starring in The Conjuring universe as Lorraine Warren. She also starred in The Commuter, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and The Front Runner as well as the TV series Bates Motel and When They See Us.

Dalton will take on the role of Jack Duquesne, Hawkeye’s former mentor known as Swordsman who has been both a hero and a villain in the Marvel comics. He is best known for playing the role of cartel boss Lalo Salamanca in AMC’s Better Call Saul. And he also appeared in the two Emmy-nominated series, HBO’s Sr. Avila and Los Simuladores.

Irish actor Fee will reportedly play Kazimierz Kazimierczak or Kazi, who is most known to Marvel fans as the mercenary villain Clown. The actor rose to fame through his role as Courfeyrac in 2012’s Les Miserables and he also appeared in films like Monochrome, Boys from County Hell, and Pixie. He is also set to appear in Kay Cannon’s upcoming version of Cinderella starring Camila Cabello.

Newcomer Cox will take on the role of Maya Lopez who’s more commonly known as the Marvel hero Echo, a deaf Native American who has the frightening ability to perfectly copy another person’s movements. The character first appeared in the Daredevil comics and was first introduced as Ronin in The New AvengersHawkeye will be Cox’s onscreen debut.

Last but not least, McClarnon, who previously starred in Fargo, The Son, Westworld, and Into The West, will play the role of Maya’s father William Lopez, a likely take on Willie “Crazy Horse” Lincoln from the comics.

Hawkeye is one of Marvel’s highly anticipated series developing at Disney+. It’s set to premiere later in 2021 alongside Loki and The Falcon and Winter Soldier. It’s fellow series She-Hulk, Moon Knight, and Ms. Mavel are still up in early talks. Only WandaVision has a set premiere date on the streamer on January 15, 2021.
