Money Heist Season 1 Episode 7 Recap

[00:00:10] Raquel woke up to answer a call. Suarez called to inform her that they found something important on the security footage. She confirmed and headed over to the command center. Angel approached Raquel and handed her a cup of coffee. He apologized for what he said on the phone last night, and Raquel told him that she didn’t mind. They got back to the footage and found that Tokyo was carrying a car key when she visited the museum a few months back. It was the Professor’s Ibiza, another clue that they could trace back to their crew and to their identities.

[00:02:05] The Professor sent them to the museum to do some recon work and check their floor plans against the real thing for accuracy and detail. Tokyo and Rio were supposed to go together, but the Professor changed his mind. He asked Nairobi to go in her place. The Professor insisted that Tokyo shouldn’t because her mother died. This was to prevent her from visiting her mother’s grave, but Tokyo refused and took the car keys. She told him that she had already said her goodbye and that she no longer considered her as her mother because she wanted to turn her over to the police.

[00:05:50] Tokyo answered the Professor’s call and asked him what he wanted to do with Berlin. He told her that he would handle it and asked for Helsinki. He questioned him regarding the Ibiza. Previously, he gave Helsinki 1000 euros to dispose of the car, but he didn’t do as told. Helsinki had kept the 1000 euros and sent it to his family. Alternatively, he gave the Professor a fake photograph as proof that the car had been destroyed.

[00:07:12] He angrily told Helsinki that the car was a loose end. The Professor asked Helsinki if he at least wiped the car clean of fingerprints. He answered yes, but he didn’t seem quite sure. The Professor rephrased his question; he asked him if he knew what fingerprints were, and Helsinki answered no. The Professor asked him one last question, if he wiped the car with ammonia as per his previous instruction. He answered no.

[00:08:00] The Professor gathered his belongings. He wore his glove and jacket, took a couple of bottles of ammonia along with his helmet. As he was on his way out, Raquel called. She told him that they couldn’t grant his request for the ship; however, he told her that they could request authorization for the use of the ship in this case. Raquel was amazed that he knew something of the law; the Professor told her that he’s just an amateur, and he only enjoyed reading judicial hearings.

[00:10:20] Raquel informed the Professor that a new inspector would be assigned to the case unless she’s able to provide results. She requested that eight hostages be released in order for them to continue their so-called relationship. Raquel gave him one hour to decide and ended their conversation. The Professor set his watch for one hour and rushed to the junkyard. Raquel told Colonel Prieto that she thought the robbers would escape using a different exit. She told Angel to check all the sewers within a 550 meter radius of the royal mint.

[00:12:15] The Professor arrived at the junkyard. It was closed, so he took a scenic route. He jumped over the fence and began to search for his car. As he was running around the lot, the caretaker found him and chased him. He managed to outrun the man and gained a few seconds, so he jumped inside the trunk of a car. The caretaker passed through and didn’t notice him hiding, so he thought. The man got into a crane and picked the car up as he was inside the trunk. While the Professor was begging for his life, Raquel called.

[00:15:05] Raquel invited him over for coffee, but he declined, stating that he wasn’t in Madrid at the moment. Raquel explained her situation and invited him over for lunch or dinner instead. He agreed to have dinner with her. They ended the conversation, and he focused on the task at hand, which was how to get out of his current situation.

[00:17:00] Back at the bank, Berlin sat with five hostages. He took out a cigarette and asked if any of them were smokers. They replied no. Berlin turned off his lighter and told them that he wouldn’t ruin their health by smoking in front of them. He asked them how they were doing and if being inside the office instead of downstairs was doing them any good. The hostages were quivering in fear. He shared with them what happened with Monica, or at least what he thought really happened.

[00:19:00] The hostages were dismayed when they found out that it was Monica. After sharing his story, Berlin looked at Silvia. He asked her if she was having an anxiety attack. Another hostage answered that she was just nervous and that it would pass. He approached Silvia and asked her to take his hand. Berlin led her to the other room where Oslo was waiting; he stared at the other hostages as he closed the door.

[00:21:20] Back at the scrapyard, the Professor got out of the trunk where he faced the caretaker along with his dog. He tried to reason with him and offered him money, but he disagreed. The man gave him 5 seconds to run, after that he let the dog loose to chase after him. The Professor ran as fast as he could.

[00:22:20] As we returned to the mint, Tokyo entered a room where Rio was setting up the explosives that they were going to use. He told Tokyo that the Professor ordered him to set up the explosives. He also found a stash of sherry that Arturo kept in his office. Tokyo told Rio that being a CEO suits him. They got into a bit of roleplay which turned into a more serious tone. Rio contemplated what he had done. He said that everything was just a game to him prior to their heist, and now he lost his parents. Tokyo told him that she lost her mother too, but for Rio, it just wasn’t the same. Rio was feeling remorse, and Tokyo didn’t know how to comfort him, but he asked for her door. The door that they talked about the day they visited the museum.

[00:26:20] Tokyo and Rio visited the museum; they checked the cameras in the hallways to see if anything had changed. Once they completed their goal, it was time to get back to the villa, but Tokyo had other plans. She told him that it was the one time that they got to go out and that they should make the most of it. They made their way into one of the museum’s bathrooms, where they had sex. Tokyo was also feeling remorseful that day; she felt that she killed her mother due to grief and disappointment towards her. She shared her story with Rio about how she had no father and how her mother always left her all alone so that she could work for both of them.

[00:30:00] She also told him about a magic door that her mother drew on her wall. Her mother told her that she would be on the other side of the door whenever she needed her, but she could only open the door once in her life. She learned to deal with her fears in order not to use the door, and she never opened the door. Rio commended her for being the bravest and strongest person that he had ever known. Just as they were continuing their conversation, Rio noticed the time. They had been at the museum far too long, and their parking meter had already run out.

[00:32:00] Angel found the parking ticket that was issued for the professors Ibiza the day Rio and Tokyo used it. The Professor got back to his hideout with only a minute to spare before Raquel called him. Raquel ordered Angel to find the plates of the car so that they could begin looking for it. Raquel called the Professor to ask for her eight hostages, so the Professor gave her eight names, but she was looking for Alison Parker. The Professor told her that she was too valuable to be released, but Raquel wanted her to be included on the list, so he gave her a deal.

[00:33:30] He would send out Alison Parker or eight hostages. Raquel wanted to clarify with her superiors; he obliged and gave her one minute. Raquel argued with Colonel Prieto. She told him that eight lives were far more valuable than just Alison Parker, but he told her that he would take full responsibility and that Alison should be the top priority. Raquel called the Professor again and chose Alison Parker. The Professor was shocked and asked for one hour to make up his mind; he didn’t think she would choose one over eight others. Raquel agreed and asked him to call back. He mentioned that if he didn’t call back, she would still know his decision.

[00:35:15] Angel handed Raquel a report and told her that the car had been unregistered for over ten years. She gathered her team and asked them for their opinion. In the end, she told them to search for the car inside junkyards and scrapyards. Angel reminded her that it was a Sunday and that the establishments would be closed. Raquel told him that she didn’t care and that it was their top priority. Raquel was one step closer to discovering their identities. The Professor came up with a plan and opened a medicine cabinet. He took a small container with the name Berlin on it and went on his way.

[00:36:50] Berlin took Silvia into another room. He assured her that nothing would happen to her. She pleaded to go back to the other hostages, but Berlin told her that she would be better off staying in there. He tied her up with a zip cord and began spanking her in the guise of removing dirt from her overalls. One of the hostages tried to calm the others down by telling them that Silvia would be back soon. Berlin left Silvia all tied up.

[00:39:00] The Professor returned to the scrapyard; he brought a bolt cutter with him and used it to enter the scrapyard again. This time, he finally found his car. He wore gloves along with a hairnet, shoe nets, and a face mask. He began to douse the car in ammonia and cleaned it up as best as he could. He reached for the container and took out a button. It belonged to Berlin; he touched the button when he wore the coat back in the villa. Just as he was finishing up, the police arrived. Angel and Raquel got out of the car and went to the Ibiza. The Professor managed to hide just in time, but he needed a way out.

[00:42:30] Raquel interviewed the caretaker of the scrap yard. She asked him about any paperwork filed on the car. Angel escorted him to the office to check. Raquel was about to open the car when another officer called for her. As she headed for the car, the Professor exited the van he was hiding in. He found a way out; he disguised himself as a homeless man. She tried to get the man’s attention, but the Professor just kept walking. Raquel asked a policeman to chase after him. Raquel entered the police car, and it seemed that there was news regarding her on the radio.

[00:44:00] The Professor called Tokyo earlier to have her release the recording of his conversation with Raquel. She released it to the press, which in turn included it in a news report. The recording was Raquel’s decision to choose Alison Parker over eight other hostages.

[00:45:00] She couldn’t believe what was happening, but she had more pressing issues this time; she almost had the identity of the robbers, so she pursued this lead. When she entered the Ibiza, she found the button that the Professor had left. It contained Berlin’s DNA. The policeman caught up with the Professor, but he didn’t bother to interrogate him because of his disguise, so he let him go. Raquel smelled something odd from the Ibiza. Angel told her it was ammonia. She checked the ground and found the Professor’s hairnet in front of the van. As she opened the van, she found torn clothes and an empty bottle of ammonia. She knew without a doubt that the homeless man she saw earlier was the culprit. Raquel chased after the Professor, but he was no longer in sight.
