Netflix Originals Season Premieres March 2017: Marvel's Iron Fist, Samurai Gourmet, 3 Reasons, Plus More

This second half of March is going to be one entertaining ride for Netflix nation. If that is not even close to being convincing, then maybe the newly released pilot episodes will seal the deal. Among the Netflix Originals to look forward to, Marvel’s Iron Fist, Samurai Gourmet, and 13 Reasons Why should be at the top of the list of any TVMovie buff.

Marvel’s Iron Fist, Season 1-  Release Date: March 17

Get ready to awaken the martial artist within. Iron Fist is the fourth of the series of Marvel shows that will crossover into an upcoming The Defenders series. The said show will include Netflix series’ Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. Finn Jones is Danny Rand “Iron Fist” who is a martial arts expert with the power to summon the power of the Iron Fist.

The series begins with the life of young Rand who is adopted by the mystics in the city of K’un-Lun after losing his family to a tragic accident while exploring China. In K’un-Lun, he learns kung-fu that becomes seriously cryptic because of his ability to call upon Iron Fist. When he returns home to New York, Rand goes against criminals who seek nothing else but to corrupt the city. With his badass martial arts,  he is unstoppable.

Samurai Gourmet, Season 1 – Release Date: March 17

The live action series is based on the 2013 essays and manga written by Masayuki Kusumi called Nobushi no Gourmet. It tells about the life of Takeshi Kasumi who was devoted to his job. Now as a retired 60-year-old man, he enjoys his life by eating and drinking in restaurants by himself. He remains thrifty and practical, rejecting the idea of extravagant living. With much time and money, he lives the life of a samurai simply enjoying the food.

The 12-episode season stars Honami Suzuki, Naoto Takenaka, and Tetsuji Tamayama. Episode titles include Lunch Time Beer at a Diner, The Devilish Madame, A Croquette for the Heart and Wanderer’s Italian Lunch. 

13 Reasons Why, Season 1- Release Date: March 31

The upcoming American TV series is based on the 2007 novel Thirteen Reasons Why written by Jay Asher. The first season will come in 13 episodes and will star Katherine Langford, Christian Navarro, Michael Sadler, Justin Prentice, among others.

The series is about a high school student named Clay Jensen who comes home to a package in the mail that has thirteen cassette tapes. These were recorded by a classmate named Hannah Baker who ended her own life. Before the package reached Clay’s doorstep, they were first received by a few other students from the school who had something to do with Hannah’s predicament. Clay then begins to understand why Hannah did what she did.
