New DC Show Coming to the Arrowverse in 2020

The CW’s Arrow might be ending this year, but the Arrowverse if pretty much still intact. In fact, the network’s massive DC roster continues to grow. Following the debut of Batwoman this fall is a brand new DC show that will hit sometime in 2020.

The news comes after CW president Mark Pedowitz gave his presentation at the Television Critics Association summer press tour Sunday. According to TVLine, the network is planning to add another DC Comics superhero property to its current roster of heroes—Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, and Batwoman. Pedowitz didn’t drop further hints about the show, but he did confirm that this one is within the timeline of the Arrowverse, as opposed to the Cress Williams-led Black Lightning.

This year also marks the first time we’ll ever see a “Crisis On Infinite Earths” adaptation, as it is the revolving theme of the 2019 Arrowverse crossover. For all we know, the character might be a surprise tease in the crossover, just like how Amber Rose’s Batwoman was introduced. Fans can only speculate as to which character the next show would focus on, but a number already comes to mind. John Stewart’s Green Lantern and Ted Kord (Blue Beetle) were previously teased in Arrow, as well the existence of Bruce Wayne himself. While a Batman solo show is unlikely, there’s no stopping the network from developing the other heroes in the Bat-family too.

Meanwhile, Arrow’s end might be the first and the last DC show ending that will hit The CW. Pedowitz emphasized that the remaining shows on the Arrowverse have no current plans to wrap up. “We believe in these franchises,” Pedowtiz said. “This universe will continue for many many years.”
