Peaky Blinders Season 1 Episode 6 Recap

[00:01:00] Inspector Campbell went to the Chinese tailor shop. The tailor told him that they were still closed, but he came for other services as recommended by some of his men. Tommy went to the pub to find Arthur. He woke him up and ordered him to go home and take a bath. Tommy told Arthur they were doing something today. Tommy went to Charlie with the same agenda, to wake him up and tell him to get ready. He readied the family car and went to wake Johnny up as well. He barged into Johnny’s room and told him to get ready while he was still banging his wife. Tommy went to the betting shop and saw Aunt Pol praying for them. She told Tommy that she used to pray every morning for them during the war.

[00:05:00] Tommy promised that it was going to be the last time she was going to pray for their safety. He informed her to get ready for the family meeting. Meanwhile, Inspector Campbell finally got the services he had been looking for. A Chinese woman entered the room and gave herself to him. She removed Campbell’s shoes and clothes; she even offered to clean and press his clothes while they had a bit of fun. Campbell had never visited a whore house before, so he was both nervous and timid. The woman assured him that he was going to feel younger once they were done. Sergeant Moss met with Grace and handed her a letter from Inspector Campbell. Moss called her a whore and left. Grace opened the letter, and in it, Campbell poured out his disgust for her. He called her act of love treason. Grace cried as she read the letter and left the museum.

[00:10:00] Inspector Campbell finished his time with the Chinese woman. He wounded her face, but she didn’t mind as he was a special customer. Campbell wanted to spend more time with the woman, but she left without another word. Tommy and the gang arrived at the tailor shop to pay for their suits. Mr. Zhang asked Tommy if he wanted to hear something funny. He paid an extra bit for the information, but it was worth it. Tommy entered the room and pulled out his pistol on Inspector Campbell. Cambell responded that he was unarmed, so Tommy withdrew his weapon. Tommy insulted Campbell, but Campbell knew he had the upper hand. Tommy still didn’t know how the police had managed to find the weapons he buried. Campbell told Tommy that his heart would be broken by the end of the day.

[00:14:30] Aunt Pol visited Ada. She told her the story about how she had lost her children. Aunt Pol pleaded with her to forgive Tommy. Ada couldn’t forgive Tommy for what happened with Freddie. Aunt Pol explained something to her regarding what was about to go down. Meanwhile, a cop took Freddie from his cell and transported him to prison. Campbell continued with his day and his meeting with Churchill. He was to be honored come the new year, and he also put in a good word for Grace. Churchill wanted to know what would happen to the Peaky Blinders. Campbell explained that he couldn’t make arrests as the issue would go public, but he did have a plan in store for them. Inside the betting shop, Tommy presided over the family meeting. He told everyone that they would take down Billy Kimber today.

[00:18:30] Billy thought they would help with the war against the Lee clan; however, since Johnny married Esme, the Shelby’s were united with the Lee clan, and together they would bring Kimber down. With everything all set, Aunt Pol invited Ada in, along with her son, Karl. Tommy asked if he was forgiven, and Ada confirmed it. Tommy also confirmed what Aunt Pol told Ada earlier, and it had something to do with Freddie. The police released Freddie from his handcuffs. He explained that the Peaky Blinders were helping him escape. As the police car made its way out of the city, it got held up by a wagon. The police got out of the car and approached the wagon, but Danny was waiting for them. He used the machine gun and fired it to the heavens. He warned the police not to interfere as he claimed Freddie.

[00:23:00] The Peaky Blinders went to the pub to enjoy a few beers before their mission. Grace and Tommy had a little talk in the back. She told Tommy that she was leaving for good, but before they could finish their talk, someone came in and informed Tommy about Kimber’s men heading their way. Tommy went back to the betting shop to inform Ada so that she could leave with Karl. No one knew about the plan except for Tommy and Grace. Aunt Pol knew that Grace had betrayed them. He told Tommy that she would handle Grace. Aunt Pol went to the pub to talk with Grace. She pulled out her pistol, but Aunt Pol wasn’t looking for a fight. They talked about Tommy for a little bit. Then Aunt Pol gave Grace an ultimatum; she needed to leave, or Aunt Pol would kill her herself.

[00:31:00] The Peaky Blinders were outnumbered 3 to 1. Jeremiah, the preacher, was willing to pick up a weapon again to help them. Sergeant Moss informed Inspector Campbell about the war that was about to go down. Campbell paid no attention to Moss. He ordered Moss to stand down all available units in the area. He told Moss that they would allow the beasts to kill one another. Back at the pub, Harry talked to Tommy. He asked him if he was going to look for Grace after the war with Kimber was over. Tommy responded that Grace was in the past and no longer his concern. Tommy focused on the present and the soldiers’ minutes. Harry asked Tommy if he didn’t get enough minutes during the war. Tommy responded that he didn’t.

[00:35:00] Finn ran towards the pub to inform Tommy about Billy and his men. Once he got to the bar, Tommy came out, and the rest of the Peaky Blinders joined him. A large group of men headed their way, but they faced them head-on. Sergeant Moss informed Inspector Campbell that the war was about to start. He still paid no attention, which disappointed Moss. He thought Campbell really planned on changing Birmingham and ridding it of the corruption. Campbell pointed out that he was not looking the other way; he was seeing an opportunity to rid Birmingham of the corruption. The Peaky Blinders were about to wage war against Billy Kimber and his men. They brought out the last machine gun which was being held by Freddie, but before they could fire at one another, Ada strolled in with Karl in his carriage.

[00:40:00] Ada pleaded to everyone to stop their nonsense. She reminded the men about their loved ones, their families, their sons and daughters, and especially their wives. Billy agreed with Ada; he didn’t want his men to die. He took out his pistol and shot Tommy. He hit Tommy on the shoulder with his first shot and killed Danny with the second. Billy took his eyes off Tommy and bragged to his men; it was a mistake that would cost his life. The second Billy looked back, Tommy shot him in the head. He instructed Billy’s men to go home as the war was over. No one wanted to fight anymore since their boss was already dead. The men dragged Billy’s body and left.

[00:42:00] Scudboat and Curly took care of Danny’s body as Freddie and Ada were finally reunited. Grace visited Inspector Campbell one last time. She asked him what he told Tommy earlier. Campbell told Grace what he told Tommy. He added that Grace broke two hearts that day; she confirmed that she also broke her own. Grace left without saying another word. Back at the pub, Jeremiah took out the bullet from Tommy’s shoulder. They drank in honor of Danny as they were finally going to bury him at his grave up on the hill.

[00:45:30] Sergeant Moss informed Inspector Campbell that they found the body of Billy Kimber with a gunshot wound to the head. He assumed that the Peaky Blinders won the war. Since there were no witnesses around to collaborate any stories, the Peaky Blinders would get away with murder yet again. Moss added that Freddie Thorne escaped because the police were not at their posts during the war. Sergeant Moss left Inspector Campbell as he contemplated his defeat. Back at the pub, everyone celebrated their victory. Tommy instructed his men to bury Danny; they wanted to know if they needed to look for jobs for his sons. Tommy told them to let Danny’s sons be so that they could live out an ordinary life. Inspector Campbell called Churchill to inform him about his future decisions.

[00:48:30] Tommy went to Grace’s apartment. She was just about to leave when he arrived. Grace confessed her feelings for Tommy, but it was too late. He felt betrayed and didn’t want anything to do with Grace. She wanted Tommy to join her in London. Aunt Pol was waiting for Tommy to arrive at the pub. She offered him a drink when he arrived, but he didn’t want whisky. Tommy told Aunt Pol to look behind the bar for the champagne that Grace had bought. He told Aunt Pol that today was a good day for them. The Lee clan took over the races since Billy and his men were too busy at war with them earlier. The Shelby Brothers LTD has successfully become the third-largest legal race track operation in the country.

[00:51:30] Arthur and Johnny were too drunk to celebrate, but they still managed to raise their mugs to toast. Tommy opened the champagne bottle and poured Aunt Pol a glass. Aunt Pol knew that Tommy was heartbroken; she told him that there would be other women in the future. Tommy offered a toast for the other women in his life. Tommy wrote a letter to Grace. He told her that she would have his decision within three days on whether he was going to accompany her or not. Aunt Pol told Tommy that Grace really fell in love with him, and Tommy didn’t doubt Aunt Pol when it came to matters of the heart. Tommy confessed his love for Grace in his letter. Sadly the letter would never reach Grace as Inspector Campbell went to the train station that night to kill her.
