Stephen Amell's Shares Hopes for 'Arrow' Season 7's Future & Characters

Arrow Season 7 looks to be a hopeful new chapter, according to the hero himself, Stephen Amell. In an interview with The Music Australia, Amell teased everyone about how the seventh season of the flagship DC show on The CW will introduce new characters—extending the DC storyline. The show might also include Harley Quinn, who was scrapped in the previous season of Arrow.

Amell also feels like it’s time to give Arrow a sense of finality. The actor stressed that Season 7 should be written like it’s the finale for the series.

“We have a new showrunner this year, Beth Schwartz, who’s been with the show since season one. [The writers] have a very clear vision of what they want season seven to be, and what I asked them to do – and it’s not up to me – but what I asked of them is to not just assume that we have an eighth season,” said Amell. “I wanted them to write like, ‘If you have a good idea, and you have something you’ve always wanted to do or see on the show, then just do it! Do it right now!”

Amell also emphasized the need for Arrow season 7 to live up to its premiere, not disappointing fans but actually listening to them. “I think that’s one of the things I’m getting out of what they’ve planned for season seven – we’re not writing like we’re guaranteed something beyond this because we’re not; nobody is,” the Arrow actor said. “I want them to really push forward and take the fact we have a certain license and a certain respect from the fans to take some chances.”

After the previous season’s finale, Arrow fans have been speculating about the various elements that could make its way into the seventh season. A long-time DC show on The CW since 2012, Arrow’s latest season left fans wanting more than the usual servings after Amell’s comments.

Arrow Season 7 premieres this October, with a new Monday night timeslot on The CW.
