'Stranger Things' Could End After Season 4 According To Series Creators

It seems like the Upside Down won’t be around for long. The latest news on Netflix’s “Stranger Things” comes as an apparent expiration date for the show, much like what “Game of Thrones” creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff did. Series creators Matt and Ross Duffer they are thinking of ending “Stranger Things” after four seasons.

Then again, there are some science fiction TV shows that have been around for a long time, such as “The X-Files,” which had been picked up for a revival last year, and the currently airing “Supernatural.” However, while each of these shows has its own devoted fan base, some of them think that the show should have ended at a particular point in the season. There’s something about ending a series by sticking to a particular endpoint that gives fans a well-deserved closure to the entire narrative of the story.

That could very well be the fate of “Stranger Things.”

Stranger Things On A Four-Season Run

In an interview with Vulture, the Duffer Brothers said that Netflix has officially renewed “Stranger Things” for the third season. However, by the end of season 3, Mike, Will, Dustin, and Lucas will already be full-blown teenagers headed for college.

“We’re thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out,” Ross said. “We just have to keep adjusting the story,” Matt continued. “Though I don’t know if we can justify something bad happening to them once a year.”

While this tidbit would definitely disappoint a number of “Stranger Things” fans, they still have the premiere of Season 2 to look forward to which will feature new monsters and PTSD for Will, after having been rescued from the Upside Down by his mom Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) and Chief Hopper (David Harbour). Plus, we’ll even get to enjoy the appearance of new cast members and so it’s only a matter of time before we witness how things would go in Hawkins, Indiana once again.

“Stranger Things” Season 2 premieres October 28th on Netflix.
