'The Crown' Season 2 Trailer Features More Royal Drama

The critically acclaimed Netflix series “The Crown” is coming back with more drama. “The Crown” season 2 trailer is released and things are getting intense.

Claire Foye returns as the young Queen Elizabeth and it looks like a tumultuous reign for the young queen.

The new season covers the Queen’s reign from 1956 to 1964. Things have changed since Elizabeth’s ascend the throne. She has a new prime minister and it looks like there’s a growing strain in her relationship with Prince Philip (Matt Smith).

The Crown Season 2 Trailer Features New Royal Characters

The trailer gave a brief sneak peek of the new characters for Season 2 and featured Matthew Goode as Antony Armstrong-Jones, the society photographer who ultimately married Princess Margaret.

“The Crown” season two will portray the courtship between the dapper photographer and Princess Margaret. He later became the Earl of Snowdon.

Goode’s character adds spice and sexual tension, as a commoner who won the heart of a royal.  His character, Armstrong-Jones, was the first British commoner in four centuries to marry a king’s daughter.

Another interesting bit from the season 2 trailer was Michael C. Hall as John F. Kennedy and Jodie Balfour as Jackie Kennedy. “The Crown” will feature British Royalty meeting with American Royalty. As the show’s timeline of events also covers the year of the JFK assassination.

Claire Foye’s Last Season As Queen Elizabeth

This will be Claire Foy’s last season playing the queen as the series plans to use different actors throughout the six-decade storyline that it aims to cover.

This would also be Matt Smith’s last portrayal of Prince Philipp. Season 2 will bring light to Philipp’s relationship with his son. Despite its two lead actors

Despite its two lead actors taking an exit from the show, it does not mean their characters are leaving. As the season follows a historical timeline, the storyline progresses with aging characters.

The Netflix drama takes its dramatic cue from actual historical events. The show picks up in 1956, covering the Suez Crisis, which saw the U.K. invade Egypt, straight through to the scandal that forced Prime Minister Harold Macmillan to resign in 1963.

“The Crown” season 2 is set to stream on December 8. Watch as the tensions build up in the trailer.
