‘The Flash’ Season 5 Teases Caitlin Snow’s Father And Her Real Origin Story

The audience is getting to know more about Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), one of Barry Allen’s (Grant Gustin) closest allies, in the upcoming fifth season of The Flash. Caitlin’s father, Dr. Thomas Snow, supposedly passed away many years ago, but it seems that his story doesn’t end with his death. And that story would explain the real origin of Caitlin’s powers.

In the last few episodes of season 4, Caitlin discovered her alter ego Killer Frost has been with her since childhood. Unlike the other metahumans, Caitlin’s powers didn’t come from the particle accelerator accident that gave the other Team Flash members their abilities. And the more Caitlin delves into her past in season 5, the more her father will come into the light.

According to a The Flash Season 5 character breakdown from That Hashtag Show, Dr. Snow is described as a Caucasian male in his 50’s. “He is an extremely intelligent geneticist who has been MIA for a few decades. As he returns to Central City, Dr. Snow will do his best to make up for lost time with his daughter Caitlin and his wife Carla. But what they don’t know about Thomas is that he is keeping a big and mysterious secret.”

The introduction of Dr. Snow could also hint at the return of Susan Walters as Caitlin’s mother, Carla Tannhauser according to ComicBook.com. She was last seen in the third season after Caitlin first discovered her powers.

The introduction of this character could also open up a lot of other possibilities in The Flash and the Arrowverse in general. ComicBook says that it could introduce other metahumans with histories like that in Black Lightning. It could mean that some metahumans were made without dark matter or even born with their powers.

The Flash Season 5 premieres Tuesday, October 9th at 8/7c on The CW.
