The Walking Dead Season 7 Episode 15 Review: 'Something They Need'

The stakes are in as we get closer to “The Walking Dead” Season Finale. In today’s Season 7, Episode 15 pre-finale, tables turn and every question posted in the last two episodes are answered. We now find out who the dude with the crossbow watching Rosita is, what Rick does upon learning from Tara about the Oceanside community, and Sasha’s situation inside Negan’s compound. As usual, spoilers are blatantly strewn all over this, so read at your own risk.

The Walking Dead: ‘Something They Need’ Brief Recap

Tara leads the Alexandrians to the Oceanside in hopes of convincing the community to join the fight against the Saviors. Natania refuses to have her people fight, but ultimately allows Rick’s group to take their guns. Sasha is held prisoner at the Sanctuary, where Negan tries to convince her to join the Saviors.

She confides in Eugene and asks him for a way out; he gives her the poison capsules he made. Upon their return to Alexandria, Rick’s group is greeted by Rosita, who after running into Dwight while fleeing the Sanctuary, reveals Dwight’s intentions of helping take down Negan.

Will The Oceanside Ultimately Join In The War?

We already know that Tara told Rick about the Oceanside the moment she felt a conflicting rush since “The Walking Dead” Episode 12. So it comes as sooner or later when Rick would then convince them to fight with them. INSTEAD we get a “don’t-mess-with-me-if-I-say-no” attitude from Natania, the group’s leader. It’s obvious that they all want to fight, but the leader is keeping them from doing it.

Here’s how it went down: Michonne was set up on a tree as the sniper. Jesus and Daryl set some explosives in the woods. Tara surprised Natalia when she hid in her trailer, and asked her to join them and talk to Rick right away, before anything bad happens. Natalia disagrees, even when her granddaughter Cyndie tries to join in on it. Time runs out, and there’s an explosion. The Oceansiders were rounded up by Rick and were forced to surrender. But there’s something different about how Rick does this. It’s obvious that he wants to form an alliance, but Natalia is holding them back. We’re led to a banter and gun-pointing fiasco, but it all stops when Cyndie punches her grandma. Rick and the Oceansiders then team up to kill the Walkers that arrived. In the end, they leave with the guns, but Natalia still doesn’t want to fight with them… or so she thought.

Will Gregory Snitch on Maggie and Daryl?

Throughout Season 7 of “The Walking Dead”, Gregory was nothing but a useless leader. Heck, I’d even choose Eugene to lead the Hilltop than this guy. He’s always wearing a damn sportcoat, drinking liquor and just sitting around and being useless.

Today we see him try to bridge the gap with Maggie. But when a Walker stumbles out towards them, Gregory musters up his inner bravado but fails to kill it. Maggie rushes to help, but a second Walker tackles him and again Maggie kills it. A couple of Hilltop runners see the action and snickers at Gregory. Man, he’s even worse than when we first saw Eugene! The last time we see Gregory, he’s downing a couple of shots and heading out somewhere as he consults his map.

The destination is likely to be Negan’s camp, where he could possibly spill what he’s been keeping about Maggie and Daryl. Good luck, Gregory. Remember how Spencer ended up spilling his guts out because of snitching?

What Does Dwight Have To Offer To Rick?

We know that Dwight was the mysterious crossbow-wielding figure during last week’s episode. When Rick and his crew return to Alexandria, Rosita introduces them to a visitor locked up in Morgan’s cell. Tada! It’s Dwight, everyone!

If we backtrack on Dwight’s story, we know that Negan stole Sherry, his wife. She ran away just after she helped Daryl escape. She left a note for Dwight telling him to man up and turn away from the Saviors’ way of life. Apparently, in an effort to wash away his sins, he switches sides and goes to Rick for redemption.

True, he’s ordered by Rick to get down on his knees and maybe plead the fifth, but surely “The Walking Dead” won’t waste someone as valuable and interesting as Dwight. Now, with him being a top-tier Negan soldier, we can only hope for all the good things that could be done.

We’re down to our last episode next week, and it will surely run long; knowing that everything is on lock and load, only time will tell what happens from this point on.
