Will HBO Max’s Batgirl Introduce us to Robin?

Robin had been teased way back in Batman v Superman, but the way that the DCEU went down, fans didn’t think we would be getting the Boy Wonder on the big screen anytime soon. What’s interesting is, he could be showing up in HBO Max’s upcoming Batgirl.

A new set photo reveals a mural of Batman (presumably Michael Keaton’s version) and Robin. We don’t know exactly the context of the mural, but it has been a world-building device used to flesh out lore—like the Spider-Man photo in Morbius as well as the Iron Man murals in Spider-Man: Far from Home.

 If the rumors are to be believed, The Flash is going to establish Keaton’s Batman as the main Batman of the DCEU, and he will be handing the reins over to Batgirl. We don’t know if Robin could actually appear in the HBO Max movie, but it’s possible that the character could be dead, and it’s the very thing holding Batman back from passing on the torch to Batgirl.

Personally, I would have loved to see Zack Snyder’s DCEU continue, but like No Way Home, it seems that WB is going to opt for the Multiverse route in order to soft reboot the entire franchise. We know that a lot of fans are going to be disappointed with the choice, but the way things are, DC is doubling down with their refusal to bring Snyder back; and several fans are getting exhausted over this #RestoreTheSnyderVerse movement.  

Then again, it’s just a rumor. Let’s not forget #ReleasetheSnyderCut still happened.

Catch The Flash when it hits theaters on Nov. 4. No release date has been set for the HBO Max Batgirl movie.
