Fan-Favorite Willa Holland Set To Return to 'Arrow's' Final Season

Arrow is soon headed into its final season. But, it seems that fans will be getting one last treat from the show before they have to say goodbye. According to TVLine, fan-favorite Willa Holland will be back for Arrow’s final season. More than that, Holland won’t just be a guest star as some would expect but a recurring character in the show’s 10-episode finale.

Arrow showrunner Beth Schwartz is also excited to bring back Holland into the family for the show’s finale. “We are thrilled to have Willa back in our final season,” she said.

Arrow Goes Out With One Last Reunion

Holland’s character Thea Queen has gone through quite the character arc beginning from the very first season of the show. From being Oliver’s (Stephen Amell) spoiled and rebellious little sister, Thea grew to mature and join the family business as the red-suited Speedy. However, in season 5, according to Entertainment Weekly, Holland decided to gradually dial down her appearances until she finally parted ways with the show on Season 6 much to fans’ disappointment.

As her story line goes, Thea left with her longtime love Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) in the latter part of Season 6 to travel the world and shut down recently unearthed Lazarus Pits.  But, midway through Season 7, Roy returned alone to Star City. It turns out, the lovers split because of Thea’s decision to use a Lazarus Pit to resurrect Roy after the Thanatos Guild killed him. She wasn’t also seen in the season’s flash forwards. Now, it seems that Thea might be coming home.

Arrow seems to be going all-out on the reunions for its final season. In addition to Holland, John Barrowman has confirmed that he will be reprising his role as the villain and occasional ally Malcolm Merlyn/Dark Archer.  Josh Segarra will be returning from the dead as Adrian Chase/ Prometheus. Colin Donnell will also be returning as Oliver’s best friend Tommy. According to executive producer Marc Guggenheim in an interview with EW, Donnell is “not coming back as the Tommy we know.” Byron Mann also confirmed he’s set to reprise his role as Yao Fei Gulong, Oliver’s mentor from the first season.

As the official logline for ArrowSeason 8 reads, “Oliver will find himself pit against his most challenging battle yet, one that will leave the multiverse hanging in the balance. In Arrow’s final season, Oliver Queen is forced to confront the reality of what it means to be a hero.”

Arrow’s eighth and final season premieres Tuesday, October 15th, at 9/8c on The CW.
