The Bachelorette Season 13, Episode 7: Switzerland Dates Recap

A certainly interesting episode for “The Bachelorette” as all is happening in Switzerland. To be specific, the city of Geneva. It is as Rachel Lindsay says, “Switzerland is known for so many things: chocolates, cheeses, watches…”

So here’s the sitch. There isn’t going to be any Rose Ceremony. Instead, Rachel is going for a one-on-one with the boys and a three on one. With this set-up, things are really getting heated with just a single rose heading for the winner of the three. Not to mention that the Hometown dates are just a week away. Anyways, the first one up for the one-on-one date is none other than Bryan.

First Date: Bryan, Bentley, And Boating

As for living the ‘fancy’ life, the two definitely embody it on their date. Bryan Abasolo, the chiropractor, drives a Bentley to a watch store where Rachel spoils him by buying him an expensive watch. Here we also find out that Bryan likes black then the two proceed to make out in front of the salesman. Classy. After the shopping comes the romantic boat ride with, you guessed it, more making out.

Champagne in hand, Rachel and Bryan boat around Lake Geneva while talking about their relationship. The conversation shifts to talking about Rachel’s x then next Bryan’s. He reveals there are similarities between his x and Rachel but that his x breaks up with him using his mother as the reason. In the end, Rachel still gives him a rose and then latches onto him for another make out session. Oh, with a string quartet serenading them as they do. Romance.

Second Date: Dean, Church, And Eccentric Dad

As romantic as the first date with Bryan was, Rachel’s date with Dean Unglert (startup recruiter) was… holy. Dean takes Rachel to church to hear a Catholic Mass. Which was in French. Regardless of how they ingested that, the date with Dean became immensely deep on his side. Despite Dean not being that talkative when it comes to conversations, Rachel got him to talk.

He admits his fear of bringing Rachel home to his family. Mainly because of family problems that stem from his dad. Dean’s relationship with his dad could use more work or a lot of work. Additionally, he describes his dad to be more ‘eccentric’ from his mother’s death. He clarifies he feels abandonment from his family and his worries to Rachel, which in turn reassures him. No making out here but Dean does get kisses and rose from Rachel.

Third Date: Peter, Swiss Alps, And Dog sleds

Perhaps this saves the best for last or the other way around? Either way, it’s a date on the Swiss Alps and with dog sleds. Who can complain? Peter Kraus takes Rachel out on a grand time on a sort of picnic on a glacier. They cuddle and appreciate each other’s warmth since they’re on a date on cold snow. Afterward was where Peter opens up about his family.

Peter reveals he’s never gone out with a black woman before but assures his family will be welcoming. His explanation includes his family accepting anyone he loves so that’s why he doesn’t have a worry about bringing her home. From this, it led to talking about Peter’s guilt for dumping his ex, and mentioning he would never propose if he didn’t feel like it. The end of this rollercoaster ride is still with Rachel giving him a rose. After all, he’s “along the path” to love.

Group Date: Adam, Eric, And Matt

Three men and one rose. This may be a challenge not only for Rachel but also Adam Gottschalk, Eric Bigger, and Matt Munson. To get the rose means to stand above the other two and appeal to Rachel the most. Also, Rachel is taking them to France. Things were going smoothly when Rachel turns on the water works while talking to Matt. Obviously, she was crying because she was sending him home. Her reason being they didn’t have enough time to get to know each other despite seeing herself in him.

Adam tells Rachel what a girl wants to hear, that when she meets his family, things will just get even better. What Adam says is definitely the polar opposite of what Eric opens up about. Adam is all about sunshine and happiness whereas Eric reveals how rough his life and neighborhood is. Selling drugs, drugs in general, an uncle in prison, never bringing a girl home- Eric had it tough. But despite the dark turn of conversation and that it was Rachel’s hardest decision, Rachel gives the rose to Eric So it’s goodbye Adam, and hello Hometown visits next week!
