Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 Episode 15 Recap - Gathering

Contradictions

Thankful that she’s asleep, Tanjiro rushes Nezuko back into her box and fixes the straps for him to carry.

Gyutaro and Daki continue to berate Tengen, boasting they’ve killed Hashiras before and are eager for him to follow.

When Gyutaro says he probably is the chosen one with his talent, Tengen laughs and refutes him. There are many stronger and more talented fighters among the Hashiras.

Tengen has failed to save many lives before; he’s not like Kyojuro. Gyutaro asks him how he’s still alive despite being struck by poisonous sickles. Tengen’s ninja heritage has granted him resistance to poison.

He explains he is one among nine siblings. Seven were already dead, and his family was in decline, so his father was obsessed with training them. His remaining sibling is like his father, devoid of sympathy.

Oyakata-sama praised him for contradicting his family’s values. He continues to devote himself to protecting people’s lives. His contradictions are what made him strong.

Gyutaro laughs as he notices the poison working on Tengen. Tengen denies it, saying he can still dance flamboyantly. He moves in to fight the siblings two against one, hurling bombs at Daki and slicing through as they explode.

Tengen extends his chained swords’ reach, but Gyutaro dodges. Daki complains after getting decapitated again. Gyutaro taunts the Hashira, saying he’s about to die from poison.

The Team

Suddenly, Inosuke comes in with Zenitsu, proclaiming he and his lackeys have arrived. Tanjiro arrives last with his sword and Nezuko’s box.

The citizens of the Entertainment District evacuate while guided by Tengen’s wives.

Tengen compliments his members’ flamboyant entrance. Gyutaro says they’re about to die. Tanjiro wonders why there are two of them and how Daki still lives. Gyutaro’s strong smell signifies he’s the main body.

Tanjiro trembles with fear, but Tengen calls for victory, adding that his comrades have the guts to fight back. Tanjiro sees Kyojuro in the Hashira as he announces that they’ll have to cut off the enemy’s heads simultaneously.

Gyutaro boasts that they have eaten 22 Hashiras between siblings, so they won’t last till sunrise. Daki lashes out, but Zenitsu catches her and flings her to the air. Inosuke volunteers to follow them.

The sleeping Zenitsu tells Daki to apologize to the girl she hurt. He lectures her that her servants aren’t hers to do as she pleases. Daki says women are considered commodities in this district, so they are considered objects. The demons claim to have only been giving back the suffering they received.

Together

Tanjiro moves in front of the poisoned Hashira, but Gyutaro is too fast. Tengen throws Tanjiro off as he clashes with the demon. Upstairs, Daki’s sashes start a coordinating attack.

Inosuke joins Zenitsu as they clash against the barrage of sashes.

Downstairs, Tengen continues to fight with Gyutaro’s mantis-style moves. The whole building crumbles as their blades clash. Tanjiro catches the enemy’s Blood Sickles, but they’re too strong. He has to be careful not to destroy his swords.

Tengen distracts the enemy with a Sound Technique while the two others on the rooftops dodge the incoming wave of sashes.

Tanjiro makes way for Tengen even with his wounded state. He has to push through for them to win.

Hinatsuru finds them and helps fight with a barrage of kunai from above. Tengen moves in to attack despite getting hit by the kunai. Gyutaro fails to regenerate; the kunai are laced with Wisteria. Tanjiro moves in to finish him.

Our Thoughts

The pacing in this episode is a little messy, with too many repeated dialogues, but the fight scenes are top-notch. 3.8/5.
