Espo Has a Crazy Ex Girlfriend on ABC's CASTLE

By Geannie Bastian

This week's episode of Castle belongs to Esposito in wonderfully humanizing way. And armored car driver is killed during a robbery, and the robbery it turns out the killer used an MO that is exactly like the one that used by a woman that Espo put away 10 years ago – who also happens to be his ex. Ex-fiancée, that is.

The case is a bit simplified this week, though that's kind of expected, given the entire robbery was just supposed to be a set up to allow Sonia out of prison so that she could get her hands on the hidden gold from the previous heist before it was lost to her after the death of her father, who led the robbery crew.

The killing of the armored car driver – who was in on the robbery – turned out to be the work of Sonia's accomplice, who did the deadly deed without her consent. When he threatens to kill Esposito, she turns on him, saying she still loves Javier. In the end, Espo convinces the woman he still calls love of his life to turn herself in, and helps to insure she will get minimal time added to her sentence.

Linus and Lucy

No, not the Peanuts tune that hits radios and light displays every Christmas – although if Richard Castle had a Christmas theme song, that’d be it. No, Lucy, Castle’s vaguely evil looking pyramid shaped home operating system finally lived up to her look. Kinda. She seems to have gotten used to being Rick’s lady of the house, and now that Beckett’s home for good, she’s less than pleased.

She’s none to subtle either, that Lucy. Interrupting a kiss by blaring “Move, Bitch” on the sound system, refusing Kate coffee, and killing the lights on a sweet Kate/Martha/Alexis moment because Alexis called her a CPU with no feelings were the highlights that caused the real lady of the house to take matters into her own hands. Beckett reset Lucy to the male Linus, who naturally, prefers Kate to Rick.

It’s a funny little subplot that leads to more than a few imaginative possibilities, whether they are realized on screen or not. Kate assured Castle that Lucy is still in there, so the possibilities for a his and hers AI war are many.
