Feel Good Season 2 Episode 2 Recap - Episode 2

Nick performs Step 9, the amends, on Mae. Apparently, he has joined Narcotics Anonymous as well. Mae accepts his amends and they hug. Nick asks her what his game plan is and Mae says that she likes to talk to George first. Nick tells her that he was asking for her career game plan. Nick informs her that Donna Ridley, a massive agent, wants to represent Mae. Mae says that if she gets signed, then she can tell George that she is getting her life together.

Mae meets with Donna. Donna tells her that what she likes about Mae is that she is very current, being addicted, anxious and trans all at the same time. She also says that she likes that Mae has come from outer space, left her terrible relationship, and is ready to fuck. Mae tells her that she will think about signing with her.

Mae visits George and sees Elliot coming out of the house. She realizes that George has moved on and lies by telling her that she is also seeing someone – Jack. George apologizes to her, but Mae admits that it is her fault because she ended things. Mae says that it is healthy that George is seeing someone, even though it was fast. George asks Mae if they can be friends, and Mae agrees.

Mae rants to Scott and says that George and she cannot be friends because she sees her unborn children in George’s eyes. Scott tells her that what she needs to do is prove to George that she has grown. Mae decides that she’s going to ask George and Elliot on a double date. She asks Jack to come with her and pretend that they’re dating because that is what she said to George.

George and Elliot act on their plans to start a social activism group. The group checks in and when it is George’s turn to do so, she struggled with identifying herself. She just says that she is seeing Elliot, but she had a girlfriend.

When they finally meet up for their date, George and Mae get there first. They catch up a bit. Mae asks how the sex is going for George and Elliot, so George tells her that it is tender, like Elliot connects with her emotionally during sex. Mae makes fun of this and tells George that she will never do that. Jack comes and as part of their play, he kisses Mae on the lips. Elliot comes and kisses George on the cheeks and hugs Mae, saying that he has heard so much about her.

While inside the escape room they chose to do a double date, Elliot tells Mae that it is great that she and George are finally getting closure. Mae says that it was her fault that they ended because she came into her life like a tornado full of sticks and poo, while George says it was her fault because she made Mae anxious by keeping her a secret so she relapsed. Mae tells her that a night of coke with a sad businessman cannot be called a relapse. George was actually talking about the pills from the hospital so this coke business was new information for her. George cannot believe that Mae did coke, so Mae admits that she messed up but she also says that she went to rehab in Canada. This makes George feel guilty, knowing that Mae was in rehab while she was busy hooking up with a new guy. Mae tells her that she hooked up with someone else first – she slept with Lava. George gets mad and cries.

George apologizes to Elliot about what happened, and Elliot says that if she wants to move on, she should cut all contact with Mae.

Mae reaches out to Donna and asks her to watch her perform. Before her performance, Mae calls George and asks her if she thinks they were toxic. George says she does not know, but she agrees when Mae tells her that sometimes, they feel good. Their conversation gets interrupted when George’s doorbell rings and she says that it is Elliot.

Mae takes the stage and begins the act by asking the audience about Chevy Chase. The audience seems unengaged, so Donna tells her to talk about her heartbreak instead. The audience instantly perks up.

Elliot watches a documentary but George has a different kind of entertainment in mind. She says that she is experiencing puberty again, just like what Elliot said and that there are so many things she likes to try, including the things in the porn movie she likes to watch. Elliot accuses her of being vulgar and instead gives her a book of essays about feminist sexuality. She gets fed up.

After Mae’s act, Donna tells her that she will commit arson if Mae won’t sign with her. She asks Mae to meet her the next day and tells her that there is a groupie waiting for her outside. Jack comes and asks Mae if she is properly single so that they may have a relationship already, but Mae ignores him. Instead, she goes outside and sees George waiting for her.

George pretends that it is the first time they have met and introduces herself to Mae anew. Mae plays along and they shake hands. They continue to talk and George tells Mae that she does not have a boyfriend. Mae tells her she wants to come back to her house. They kiss and end up in George’s house, talking dirty to each other while making out. George asks Mae not to talk to Lava ever again. Phil walks in on them and expresses his happiness at seeing Mae again.

George and Mae have sex and after that, Mae tells Mae she needs to lie under the bed, just like what she does when she gets a panic attack. George lies under the bed with her.

Our Thoughts

Oh no. Poor Elliot has really been just a bit of a rebound for George. We should be happy that George and Mae are finally together again, but we can’t help but feel that they might just be in for another roller coaster ride of being toxic and feeling good. We wish they have taken time to really heal before they jumped into getting back together. I also feel pity for Jack as he has been Mae’s go-to, but he wanted more and he is not going to get it anytime sooner. It’s just so sad.
