'Game of Thrones' Season 8 Epic Final Battle Scene to Take Place in Episode 3

For many Game of Thrones diehards and casual fans, one of the most awaited parts of every season is its fantastic fight sequences and battle scenes. Among the epic wars that we saw were “The Dance of Dragons” (season 5, episode 9), “The Spoils of War” (season 7, episode 4), “Blackwater” (season 2, episode 9), “Battle of the Bastards” (season 6, episode 9), and “Hardhome” (season 5, episode 8).

“Hardhome” was the pinnacle of every Game of Thrones war sequence. It showed us that even though the humans had their own wars to fight, in the end, it will be the dead who will have the last drawing of blood. That said, the Night King himself confirms that the show’s final war with the White Walkers will come sooner than you think.

Vladimír Furdík, who played the Night King in seasons six to seven, confirmed the news in a fan convention in Hungary. According to Mashable (translated from Hungarian site SorozatWiki), Furdík says that the final battle between the armies of Westeros and the White Walker will happen on the third episode of Game of Thrones season eight. “In the third episode of the last season, there is a battle that the creators intended to be a historic moment in television,” Furdík said. “Almost the full episode will be about the battle; it will take about one hour.”

This is exciting news, seeing how the third episode alone took 55 nights to film and needed more time in the editing room to finish the final cut. No matter how much we loved “Hardhome” and “Battle of the Bastard,” it looks like the third episode of the final season will wrap it all up into a glorious crescendo, bookending the series with a “war of all wars.” In another earlier interview with Entertainment Weekly, Tyrion Lannister actor Peter Dinklage described the final battle as something that “makes the Battle of the Bastards look like a theme park.”

Game of Thrones Season 8 premieres April 2019 on HBO.
