Money Heist Season 1 Episode 12 Recap

[00:00:10] Angel continued to call Raquel but still no answer. He left another voicemail saying that he stayed with her not to seduce her but because of their friendship and because he loved her. Raquel was busy with the Professor as she held him at gunpoint while he showed her around his hideout. They entered the hallway that was curtained with plastic; the Professor explained that it was to keep out the cold. They reached the end of the hallway, and Raquel instructed Salva to open the lights. He did as told, and Raquel inspected the place.

[00:03:30] Denver and Monica continued their conversation inside the vault. She asked him what he did for a living before the heist. Denver told her that he had done a little bit of sales and that he danced inside a nightclub. Monica asked him to dance and show off his skills. Denver gave in to her request and danced away.

[00:04:50] As Angel continued driving, he also continued to spiral out of control. He vented his anger on the voicemails he left for Raquel. Raquel was oblivious to Angel’s situation as she was still inspecting Salva’s hideout. She continued to look around and came to the conclusion that there was nothing suspicious about the place. Salva told Raquel what happened when Angel had come over.

[00:07:20] Raquel apologized for pointing her gun at him, and in the heat of the moment, she kissed him. She vowed that she would no longer point her gun at him, nor would she frisk or doubt him. Salva agreed as he kissed her back. Meanwhile, Angel received a call from Pilar that confirmed that the fingerprints they had found on the police car matched the prints from the spoon that he had provided. Angel tried to call Raquel, but her mailbox was already full.

[00:10:30] Arturo informed Pablo that it was time to act on their plan. He instructed Pablo to make his way to the warehouse. The guards were preparing their escape as they spoke. Pablo begged Arturo to inform some of his friends regarding their plan, but he disagreed. Arturo told him that only three people would be part of the plan, and the third person would be Monica. Arturo explained that she was pregnant, which was why she was the priority. Pablo understood. Arturo asked Helsinki to bring him to Monica as a favor which he willingly agreed to. Inside the boiler room, the guards were already breaking free from their handcuffs. No one knew what was coming as the Professor wasn’t in front of his computer. Salva and Raquel had just made love, and she told him that he looked like a different person without his glasses, comparing Salva to Superman and Clark Kent.

[00:13:25] He got his glasses and put them on, telling her that it was weird to wear them while sleeping, but since it was a special night, he would make an exception. Raquel told him that she couldn’t stay the night because she wanted to wake up at home with her daughter. Angel tried to call Raquel at home, but again there was no answer. He left another message saying that they had gotten the guy that was helping the robbers from the outside; he told her that it was Salva. Salva did his best to convince Raquel to stay the night, but she declined. Raquel noticed a piano, so she asked Salva to play.

[00:15:30] While Salva played, Angel got into an accident. The battery on his phone died while he was leaving Raquel a voice message. Angel wasn’t paying attention, causing his car to hit a barrier and flip over. Salva continued to play the piano, and as he finished, Raquel kissed him again, indicating that she wasn’t ready to go home just yet.

[00:17:00] Helsinki escorted Arturo to the vault where Monica stayed. As they were nearing the vault door, they heard someone moaning. Helsinki asked Arturo if that was Monica. Arturo disagreed, saying that Monica wasn’t the loud type when it came to sex. They opened the vault and were in for a surprise. Denver was fucking Monica. She begged him not to stop, but Denver stopped because he saw Arturo and Helsinki at the door. Monica opened her eyes to find Arturo staring at her in disbelief. They immediately grabbed their clothes to cover their private parts.

[00:17:40] The guards inside the boiler room were already out of their restraints and had begun to scavenge tools that they would use to escape. Oslo headed for the boiler room, unaware of what was happening inside. As he entered the room, he quickly noticed that most of the men no longer had restraints and pointed his gun in their direction, but Jacinto stood up and hit him on the head with a bar. At first, it seemed to have no effect on Oslo, but he slowly fell to the floor. They grabbed his gun and headed out of the room.

[00:19:00] Denver and Monica put on their clothes. Arturo looked at them with shock and disbelief. He wanted to do something right, and this is what he got in return. He asked Monica if Denver was raping her, but she quickly denied his allegations. Arturo couldn’t hold it in, he vomited in front of them. Helsinki did his best to comfort him. Arturo asked Monica to get dressed and leave the vault, but she told him that she was staying. Arturo wanted vengeance; he asked Helsinki to take Monica out of the vault so that he could be left alone with Denver.

[00:19:50] He challenged Denver, and Denver accepted. He asked Monica to leave, and Helsinki escorted her out of the vault. Denver didn’t know that Arturo had a pair of scissors hidden inside his overalls. As Helsinki closed the vault door, he gestured to Denver to take it easy on him. Arturo made the first move, but Denver avoided his punch. Arturo was clearly still hurt from his injury. Denver mocked him, telling him to be more careful.

[00:21:30] Jacinto and the other men made their way to the warehouse, where they found Pablo. He told them that he was just a hostage and that he was waiting for Arturo to arrive. He wanted to leave, but Jacinto wanted to wait for Arturo. Denver and Arturo were still fighting inside the vault. Arturo tried to punch Denver, but once again, he avoided his attack. Arturo told him that Monica was pregnant with his son and that he was going to kill him.

[00:21:50] Denver threw Arturo into one of the racks inside the vault, but he distracted Denver by throwing money into his face and proceeded to stab him from behind. He mocked Denver but quickly regretted his decision. Denver got up and pulled the scissors from his back. He was furious that Arturo had tried to kill him and attacked him. Filled with anger, he did his best to stop himself from killing Arturo with his bare hands. Arturo begged for his life and told Denver that 16 hostages were escaping; he ratted out his fellow hostages to save his own skin.

[00:23:00] Jacinto decided that it was time to leave, and they proceeded to the loading area. They stopped as soon as they reached the door because they saw that it was wired with plastic explosives. Denver ran towards the office; he informed Berlin and the rest of the crew that 16 hostages were escaping. Berlin instructed Tokyo to fetch Nairobi while Rio and Denver found Oslo and Helsinki. Berlin tried to call the Professor, but he wasn’t answering. Tokyo and Nairobi arrived, and Berlin told her that 16 hostages were trying to escape. She wore a bulletproof vest, and Berlin decided that it was time to get the hostages.

[00:24:15] Jacinto instructed everyone to take cover as he would try to open the door by pushing a cart into it. The Professor arrived at his desk to find that there were people running across the security cameras. He checked the cameras to find Jacinto preparing to push the cart into the door. There was nothing he could do; Jacinto ran towards the door and leaped just before the cart crashed. The door exploded, and they rushed out of the bank.

[00:25:30] Suarez alerted all of his men to proceed to the loading area. He confirmed that it was hostages who were exiting the building after the door exploded. Rescuers rushed to Angel and pulled him out of the wreckage of his car. Suarez instructed his men to rescue the hostages and bring them to safety. While all of this was happening, Raquel was inside the café ordering a cup of coffee. She went to the bathroom to freshen up. As she exited and returned to her coffee, she heard the news report regarding the explosion from the mint. She immediately rushed to the door, but before she could make it, she heard the second report about Angel’s accident.

[00:30:10] Raquel immediately went to the hospital and found Angel in one of the rooms. His wife, Mari Carmen, came in not long after she arrived. Mari asked Raquel what had happened. She found out from the police that he was drinking while driving and that he called Raquel 16 times. Raquel told her that she didn’t answer his calls because she was on a mission. Mari asked what happened between the two of them; She explained that Angel had flipped his car and that he had swerved to the opposite lane as if he wanted to end his life.

[00:31:50] Mari showed Raquel the footage of Angel’s accident that was pulled off the traffic cameras nearby. She wanted to know what happened and why his husband wanted to kill himself. Raquel told her that things weren’t going well at work, but Mari didn’t believe her. Mari confessed that she had been waiting for seven years for Angel to stop loving Raquel, and now she was just waiting for Angel to wake up. Raquel proceeded to the door and left without saying a word.

[00:33:00] We got a flashback of the Professor waking up Nairobi. She told him that she might have a fever, and he came up to her to check. Salva told her that she didn’t have a fever and that it might be from the barbeque they ate as he, too, wasn’t feeling well. She offered for Salva to lie down with her, saying that she wouldn’t bite. She told him that there was tension in the air and that she didn’t know what caused it. Nairobi said it was due to the length of their stay inside the villa, or maybe it was because of her fever, or perhaps because she found the Professor attractive. Nairobi asked him if he didn’t find her attractive.

[00:34:40] Salva responded by saying that that type of relationship wasn’t allowed. Nairobi told him that she wasn’t asking that they get married; she was merely asking for a quickie, but he still declined.  Nairobi quickly changed the subject of their conversation and told him that Tokyo divulged to her that the heist wasn’t Salva’s plan to begin with. She was curious about whose plan it originally was. He answered that the plan belonged to the most important person in his life. He shared with her that he was very sickly at a very young age until adolescence and that he had remained bedridden inside a hospital for many years.

[00:36:00] Salva had spent his time reading and listening to his father telling heist stories from the movies that he had seen until one day his father asked him if he knew that money was made from machines, and he answered that he didn’t. Salva’s father told him that the machines were inside a mint and that someone could get inside and make their own money without stealing from anyone. After that, his father was shot multiple times at the door of a bank, but it was the time that he learned about making his dreams come true without hurting anyone.

[00:38:00] Back at the mint, the crew did their best to cover up the hole left by the explosion at the loading bay entrance. They brought a steel plate and did their best to cover the hole, but the police started shooting at them. Once they could no longer hold the plate, it fell to the ground, and Helsinki was caught in the stream of bullets that came after. He was hit and fell to the floor. Nairobi saw what had happened and started calling out to him, but he wasn’t responding. They returned fire to cover for Nairobi as she went to check on Helsinki. Nairobi and Moscow checked, and the bulletproof vest stopped the bullet from injuring him.

[00:39:20] Suarez planned to throw a smoke grenade so that they could successfully enter the mint, but their plan backfired. Moscow threw the grenade back out before it could detonate. The police tried to approach the entrance, but Tokyo had a plan. She retreated a few feet back and pushed the machine gun to the entrance. Just as the police were near enough, they saw the machine gun and retreated. Tokyo opened fire as everyone got out of the way. She bought them enough time to cover the entrance and seal it. Rio brought support beams to hold the steel plate that they were going to use while Moscow and Denver welded it shut.

[00:41:50] During the commotion, Helsinki searched for Oslo and found him on the floor of the boiler room. His head was bleeding due to Jacinto hitting him with a metal pole. Helsinki didn’t know what to do. He swore that he would kill those that did Oslo harm.
